The Fugard's first new musical production of 2017 puts FUNNY GIRL on South African stages, and the results are delightful - with a powerhouse performance from Ashleigh Harvey as Fanny Brice, the stage, radio and film personality around whom everyone and everything in the show revolves.

The Jeff Awards announced, via a special video presentation, a total of 127 nominations in 26 categories for the 44th Annual Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017.  Hosting the video presentation were Alexis Roston and Lillian Castillo, who will be this year's Mistresses of Ceremonies at the Awards event on June 5 at The Athenaeum.

Following critically acclaimed and record-breaking sold-out runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Savoy Theatre, Birmingham Hippodrome is delighted to welcome Sheridan Smith in the UK Tour of Funny Girl from 8 - 13 May 2017 who reprises her highly praised performance of Fanny Brice.

Darius Campbell will play Nick Arnstein opposite Sheridan Smith as Fanny Brice for performances at Edinburgh Playhouse (18 - 22 April) as part of the nationwide Funny Girl tour

'I'm the greatest star, I am by far, but no one knows it' is the claim by aspiring vaudeville music show actress Fanny Brice at the top of Funny Girl.  Fanny is no ordinary showgirl- no 'Miss Atlantic City'. Her gift is to use that backstreet Brooklyn wit on the stage and tear up the rulebook set by the shows impresarios.

West End leading lady Natasha J Barnes and recording artist Darius Campbell lead the cast of Funny Girl at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, in May.

Actress and singer Rachel Tucker has impressed in leading musical theatre roles both in the West End and on Broadway, including Wicked, We Will Rock You and The Last Ship. She's also performed in plays such as Alan Ayckbourn's Communicating Doors and released an album. Now, she's embarking on her first solo tour, which travels the UK this summer and also transfers to New York in September.

The Menier Chocolate Factory received nine nominations for this year's Olivier Awards - a record for the company. The awards are across four productions - Travesties, currently running at the Apollo Theatre; Funny Girl, currently on an extensive tour of UK and Ireland; Florian Zeller's The Truth in a version by Christopher Hampton, and David Baddiel - My Family Not the Sitcom, which returns to the West End for a second run later this month.

Today, past winners Denise Gough and Matt Henry announced the nominations for the Olivier Awards 2017 with Mastercard, the most prestigious event in the UK's theatrical calendar. The 2017 awards are set to be the biggest yet, as they make their debut at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April.

Funny Girl, starring Sheridan Smith, officially launched the major UK and Ireland tour last night. Playing opposite Sheridan Smith is Chris Peluso as Nick Arnstein - they will perform in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Bradford, Southend, Cardiff and Dublin. The run will extend for a further two weeks, returning to Manchester to complete its run with Smith and Peluso playing the final dates.

Due to overwhelming audience response, Cloud 9 Theatricals, in association with Lang Entertainment Group and Ray of Light Theatre, announced today the extension of the San Francisco premiere of SILENCE! The Musical - the "subversively funny and deliciously tasty" award-winning musical parody of "The Silence of the Lambs." The much loved TV drama has been adapted for the stage by prolific writer Kay Mellor and with original music by Nicholas Lloyd Webber, Fat Friends will open at Leeds Grand Theatre on 7 November 2017.
