The Menier Chocolate Factory received nine nominations for this year's Olivier Awards - a record for the company. The awards are across four productions - Travesties, currently running at the Apollo Theatre; Funny Girl, currently on an extensive tour of UK and Ireland; Florian Zeller's The Truth in a version by Christopher Hampton, and David Baddiel - My Family Not the Sitcom, which returns to the West End for a second run later this month.

Artistic Director David Babani said today "It's been an extraordinary year at the Menier with four West End transfers, a major national tour, and Tony and Grammy Awards for our Broadway transfer of The Color Purple, and to now receive a record number of nominations is truly the icing on the cake. It's testament to the hard work dedication of our small team of 6 here at the theatre who operate entirely without any public subsidy, and the wonderful casts, creative teams and producing partners who have made 2016 the company's most successful year to date. We look forward to building on this in the coming year as we approach our 15th birthday."
