Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company's Co-Founder and Artistic Director Seema Sueko to Depart in Jan 2014

The Board of Trustees of Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company announced today that Co-Founder and Executive Artistic Director Seema Sueko has accepted the position of Associate Artistic Director of The Pasadena Playhouse. Sueko will assume her new role as of Monday, January 6, 2014.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced today that Seema Sueko has been appointed to be its new Associate Artistic Director. Sueko, who is the co-founder and Executive Artistic Director of the Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company in San Diego will assume her new role at The Playhouse beginning January 6, 2014.

The Pasadena Playhouse announced yesterday that its 2012 - 2013 "Better Than Ever" season, which concluded with the closing performance of Sleepless in Seattle - The Musical, exceeded sales and attendance goals for the theatre's fiscal year. The Playhouse's season was highlighted by the world premieres of the comedy Under My Skin and Sleepless in Seattle - The Musical; the smash-hit One Night With Janis Joplin, which was developed at The Playhouse, recently announced its Broadway engagement for this fall; and the launch of a long-term partnership with Lythgoe Family Productions for an annual holiday Panto at The Playhouse. The fiscal year closed with new summer programming that included an inaugural Cirque-A-Palooza festival, a one-week run of Letters From Zora starring Vanessa Bell Calloway and a sold out nine show limited engagement of Val Kilmer in Citizen Twain.

The Pasadena Playhouse presents the One Pearl and a Sphinx production of LETTERS FROM ZORA which will play a five performance, limited engagement starring Vanessa Bell Calloway. LETTERS FROM ZORA, written by Gabrielle Pina, directed by Anita Dashielle-Sparks with live music composed by Ron McCurdy is scheduled to play from tonight, August 15 - 18, 2013, with a press opening tonight, August 15 at 8:00 p.m.

TWELVE ANGRY MEN Will Be 2nd Production in Pasadena Playhouse's 2013-14 Season; STONEFACE Postponed

The Pasadena Playhouse announced today that Reginald Rose's classic drama TWELVE ANGRY MEN will be presented as the second production of its 2013 - 2014 Season playing November 5 - December 1, 2013, with a press opening night on November 10, at 5:00 p.m. The previously announced production of Stoneface starring French Stewart will be postponed due to Stewart's recent television role on CBS' comedy 'Mom' that premieres this fall. The cast of TWELVE ANGRY MEN for The Playhouse presentation will be comprised of a mix of African-American and white actors with casting and the creative team to be announced at a later date. Tickets are currently only available with a 2013 - 2014 Season subscription.

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE - THE MUSICAL had its world premiere this June at the The Pasadena Playhouse, and according to the LA Times, the show could have a future life over seas. Sheldon Epps, artistic director if the Pasadene Playhouse told LAT of a London transfer: 'I'm feeling optimistic that it's going to happen. It could happen in the spring or fall of next year.'

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) is now accepting nominations for The Zelda Fichandler Award. This award presents an unrestricted grant of $5,000 to an outstanding director or choreographer making an exceptional contribution to the national arts landscape through theatre work in a region. In 2013, the award will honor achievement in the Central region, comprised of Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
