Rachael Sage Sets Valentine's Show at Joe's Pub

Perennial New York art-pop singer Rachael Sage has confirmed plans for a Valentine's Day concert at Joe's Pub in New York City. The local event, set for February 10th with advance tickets available now, will showcase Sage and her band The Sequins (featuring drummer Andy Mac and cellist Ward Williams,) as well as other guest performers, to be announced in the weeks ahead. Sage's previous 'themed' concerts in NYC have earned a reputation for deft, tongue-in-cheek irreverence, and have garnered featured placements via Time Out NY, Good Day NY (FOX-TV,) Huffington Post, Gay City News, NY Daily News, New York Magazine, and more.

When composer/arranger/pianist Billy Childs was introduced to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Laura Nyro at the age of 11, he was left with a powerful and lasting impression of Nyro's unique blend of Broadway-inspired melodies, jazz improvisations and socially conscious lyrics. Childs returned to that early experience for his latest project, creating and orchestrating his newest album, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Orange County jazz fans will have the opportunity to hear Childs' loving homage to the late great Nyro at Segerstrom Center for the Arts tonight, October 17 at 8 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

She'll make a stop at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, November 19, at 8 p.m. with an intimate, acoustic performance! The tour marks Carpenter's return to singing both timeless hits and deep cuts from her expansive and beloved 13-album catalog, after performing with orchestras in early 2014. Mary Chapin Carpenter is well-known for her blend of pop, folk and country-style music. With hits "Passionate Kisses", "I Feel Lucky", "I'll Take My Chances" and "He Thinks He'll Keep Her", she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards and two Academy of Country Music awards for her vocals. Carpenter will be joined on stage by longtime friends Jon Carroll (piano) and John Doyle (guitars, bouzouki). Special guest is singer/songwriter Tift Merritt, who has built what has been called a 'unique' and critically acclaimed body of work of 'sonic short stories and poignant performances". Stanford Live will launch its first summer season on July 20 with an afternoon of Mexican American alternative and roots music. The Grammy Award-winning La Santa Cecilia, named "Best Alternative Band of the Year" by L.A. Weekly, and Bay Area favorites Los Cenzontles ("The Mockingbirds") will take the Bing Concert Hall stage starting at 3:00 p.m.
