The Trap Door Theatre presents JUDITH, A PARTING FROM THE BODY, written by Howard Barker and directed by Zeljko Djukic. The cast features Kevin Cox, Stacie Beth Green, and Nicole Wiesner. The show will open on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 8PM and is set to close on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 8PM.

Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle Center Sign 20-Year Lease for Playhouse at Seattle Center

Today Cornish College of the Arts President Nancy J. Uscher and Seattle Center Director Robert Nellams signed a 20-year lease for the Playhouse at Seattle Center, officially launching a partnership that began in late 2012. The Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center will host many of Cornish's educational programs in both the performing and visual arts, while also ensuring that the facility is made available to arts and cultural organizations around the region.

LOOT Opens Tomorrow at Red Bull Theater

Red Bull Theater presents the Off Broadway revival of Loot by Joe Orton. Red Bull Artistic Director Jesse Berger directs a company that includes Rebecca Brooksher (Fay), Eric Martin Brown (Meadows), Jarlath Conroy (McLeavy), Ryan Garbayo (Dennis), Rocco Sisto (Truscott), and Nick Westrate (Hal). Loot has scenic design by Narelle Sissons, costume design by Sara Jean Tosetti, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, and sound design by Brad Berridge. Opening Thursday January 16th, this limited engagement continues through February 9th only at Lucille Lortel Theater (121 Christopher Street).

Santiago Sosa to Lead Shakespeare Rep's MACBETH

Shakespeare Rep has announced preliminary casting for its upcoming production of MACBETH. Chicago-based actor Santiago Sosa has been selected for the leading role. Artistic Director Debra Charlton states, "We are thrilled to have a classical performer of Santiago Sosa's experience and talent for this demanding role. The part of Macbeth requires an actor who possesses keen sensitivity to the complexities of the verse, emotional range, charisma and athleticism. Santiago Sosa is the ideal person for the job."

Ohio State University Theatre to Present AS YOU LIKE IT for Younger Audiences, 2/7-9

The Ohio State University Department of Theatre presents As You Like It, by William Shakespeare, adapted for young audiences and directed by Maureen Ryan. The show plays on Friday, February 7 at 10 am and 7:30 pm; Saturday, February 8 at 3 pm and 7:30 pm; and Sunday, February 9 at 3 pm at Lincoln Theatre, 769 East Long St.

Registration Now Open for Howard County Arts Council's Summer Camps

Registration has begun for visual and performing arts summer programs at the Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) in Ellicott City. Programs are open to the public, regardless of residency in Howard County, for students entering grades K-7. Campers must be at least 5 years of age by September 1, 2014 to be eligible for summer camp.

BWW Reviews: Seattle Shakes RICHARD II Lacks Highs and Lows

I've never particularly been a fan of Shakespeare's histories. To me they amount to a lot of political posturing. But even with all the posturing they usually amount to a story with high stakes for all involved. Unfortunately the pacing and some performances from Seattle Shakespeare Company's current production of "Richard II" are so middle of the road and one note that the show lacked those high stakes and amounted to just so much of that posturing.

CLYBOURNE PARK Opens January 24 at Trustus Theatre

Trustus Theatre is bringing Bruce Norris' Pulitzer Prize, Tony, and Olivier Award-winning comedy Clybourne Park to the Thigpen Main Stage. This show, a response to Lillian Hellman's A Raisin in the Sun, is a provocative and humorous look at racial relations and reactions in America. Clybourne Park is directed by award-winning guest director Jim O'Connor, and opens on the Thigpen Main Stage Friday January 24th at 8:00pm. The show runs through February 8th, 2014.
