Statistically speaking, it's safe to say that just about every Broadway show boasts cast members who graduated from Cincinnati University- College Conservatory of Music, or CCM. The school's legacy is woven deep into the fabric of the Broadway community. We took some time to shine a light on that legacy at Broadway Sessions recently. The '17 graduating class took the stage alongside alumni Jessica Hendy (Cats), Julian R. Decker (Sunset Boulevard), Sean Montgomery (Groundhog Day), Christine Cornish Smith (Cats) and Josh Daniel (Book of Mormon. Enjoy highlights here.

Based on the iconic film, GROUNDHOG DAY The Musical is reimagined by the award-winning creators of the international hit Matilda The Musical-including director Matthew Warchus and songwriter Tim Minchin-with a book by original screenwriter Danny Rubin. Starring two-time Tony Award® nominee Andy Karl, GROUNDHOG DAY is the new musical comedy about living life to the fullest, one day at a time. Meet the cast before they take their opening bows!

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. 

Groundhog Day, the new musical featuring music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Danny Rubin, and directed by Matthew Warchus, begins Broadway performances tomorrow night, Thursday March 16, at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). Opening night is set for Monday, April 17.

Just announced, Masterworks Broadway and Broadway Records are partnering to release the Original Broadway Cast Album for Groundhog Day The Musical.

To take the sting out of this morning's news from Punxsutawney PA predicting six more weeks of winter, the producers of the eagerly anticipated Broadway musical comedy Groundhog Day announce a national sweepstakes to give away the first preview performance at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street) on Thursday, March 16. Opening night is April 17.

The Equity national tour of Irving Berlin's WHITE CHRISTMAS, currently playing at the new Eccles Theater, brings exactly the kind of nostalgia one is looking for at this time of year.

White Christmas, always a treat on film (1954), creates a unique and refreshing glow on stage. The original Broadway and touring productions - the first national tour played the Pantages in 2005 - were gloriously directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Randy Skinner, who turned the second act opener 'I Love a Piano' into one of the most inventive and lively tap sequences ever. Now in a short tour and directed and choreographed by Skinner, White Christmas The Musical finally returns to the Pantages but only for a week, through December 4. This is a sparkling production with terrifically paced staging and superior choreography by Skinner and a sturdy acting ensemble which includes the presence of  the delightfully funny Lorna Luft as Martha Watson. Yes, it's a frothy concoction and weak on plot, but so heartwarming and... with the spectacular Irving Berlin tunes, who cares? Run to get tickets while they are available!

 The producers of IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, the stage adaptation of the beloved classic film, have announced casting for the upcoming National Tour.   The show will star Sean Montgomery as 'Bob Wallace', Jeremy Benton as 'Phil Davis', Kerry Conte as 'Betty Haynes', and Kelly Sheehan as 'Judy Haynes'.  Also featured are Lorna Luft as 'Martha Watson', Conrad John Schuck as 'General Waverly', Dave Schoonover as 'Ralph Sheldrake', Aaron Galligan-Stierle as 'Mike Nulty', Frank Ridley as 'Ezekiel Foster', and Clancy and Samantha Penny as 'Susan Waverly'. Rounding out the cast are Kelly Black, Maria Rose Briggs, Elish Conlon, Laurie DiFilippo, Sarah Fagan, Matthew Kilgore, Danny McHugh, Chris McNiff, Kara Mikula, Bryan Charles Moore, Kristyn Pope, Jake Primmerman, Sean Quinn, Rachel Rhodes-Devey, Jessica Wockenfuss, and John T. David Perlman - who plays Ralph Sheldrake, the sometimes manipulative, always cunning television producer in Irving Berlin's White Christmas - admits he may have been a tad 'aggressively inspirational' recently when it came time to persuade his castmates and company cohorts to take part in a pet project that ultimately became a labor of love and yuletide revelry for the lot them.

The stage production of WHITE CHRISTMAS now playing the Providence Performing Arts Center is adapted from the beloved film. While this musical has much to recommend it - familiar songs with excellent orchestrations, fine-quality costumes and sets, snappy choreography, and a top-notch cast full of talented performers - this staging favors spectacle over substance, and for that, much of the heart of WHITE CHRISTMAS' story falls flat.
