Apparently, not all upper west side Jewish families spend Christmas Day going out for Chinese food and a movie. Take the extended family of Richard Greenberg's The Assembled Parties, who spend two December 25ths, twenty years apart, in a perfunctory celebration of the holiday while complaining about the inability to find a plumber to come right over fix a leaky pipe (Even when offered a 'Nativity surcharge.') and referring to the season's continual playing of Bing Crosby singing 'White Christmas' as, 'a tiny acoustic rape every time you leave the apartment.'

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced a two week extension for THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES, the world premiere play by Tony Award winner Richard Greenberg, directed by MTC's award-winning artistic director Lynne Meadow. Tickets for the critically acclaimed limited engagement are now on sale through Sunday, June 16 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Producers Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg have just announced that the world premiere production of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, the new Broadway musical adaptation of Woody Allen's and Douglas McGrath's screenplay of the 1994 film, will open at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street, between 7th & 8th Avenue) on an April 2014 date to be announced shortly.

New York City Ballet Spring Season Opens 4/30

New York City Ballet's 2013 Spring Season will open with a three-week American Music Festival featuring 25 ballets and music by 17 American composers. This festival will also mark the 25th anniversary of the 1998 American Music Festival, during which NYCB presented more than 20 new works to the music of American composers.

It's always a better place when the Paul Taylor Dance Company comes to New York-a bona fide sign of excellence in the dance world. Not that the program was perfect; I had some reservations about two of the pieces, but overall I couldn't ask for a better place to spend a cold March evening.

Manhattan Theatre Club's extended engagement of GOLDEN AGE, the third play in Terrence McNally's opera trilogy, directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie, begins the final week of its run tomorrow at 7 PM at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). When it ends its engagement on Sunday, January 13, the production will have played 20 preview performances and 48 regular performances.
