The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel is pleased to announce the Cafe Carlyle's spring 2016 season, which features the venue debuts of Broadway legend Chita Rivera, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Steven Page, actress/singerRumer Willis and Welsh superstar Katherine Jenkins; as well as the return of audience favorites Megan Hilty, Alexa Ray Joel, Herb Alpert & Lani Hall and Lena Hall.

The women took the center stage last night at The Ladies Who Sing Sondheim- a gala benefit for Off-Broadway's esteemed Classic Stage Company. The evening was and directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, who will become the company's new Artistic Director in July.  The evening included performances from Sondheim's canon by Patti LuPone (Gypsy), Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza), Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple), Joaquina Kalukango (The Color Purple), Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, CSC's Passion), Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me, Kate) and Alexandra Silber(Fiddler on the Roof). Welsh superstar Katherine Jenkins OBE makes her Cafe Carlyle debut with Viva La Diva, April 12-16. Katherine Jenkins is one of the world's most prolific classical crossover singers, having released ten chart-topping studio albums since being signed to Universal Classics. Over the course of her esteemed career, she has toured and recorded with the likes of Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, David Foster, Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Bryn Terfyl, Rolando Villazon, Juan Diego Florez & Il Divo. At Cafe Carlyle, she will be joined by music director Gerard Steichen. Two-time Drama Desk nominee Ryan Silverman (Chicago, Phantom, Side Show) will make a special guest appearance.

AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS, featuring Fred Barton & His Orchestra in 'An Evening with Cole Porter', stars a cast of today's best Broadway performers. The concerts take place at Pace University's Schimmel Center in New York tonight, March 4 at 7:30 PM and then Kingsborough Community College's 'On Stage at Kingsborough' in Brooklyn tomorrow, March 5 at 8:00 PM.

Off-Broadway's acclaimed Classic Stage Company today announced plans for its 2016-17 season, led by incoming Artistic Director John Doyle and Managing Director Jeff Griffin. Doyle, a Tony Award winner for Sweeney Todd and the director of Broadway's highly-praised new production of The Color Purple, assumes the artistic leadership of CSC beginning in July, succeeding Brian Kulick, who has led the company since 2003. For CSC, Doyle has directed Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion and Rodgers & Hammerstein's Allegro, and later this season will direct Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt.

Broadway stars Lisa Howard (It Shoulda Been You) and John Bolton (A Christmas Story: The Musical) are joining the cast of AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS featuring Fred Barton & His Orchestra in 'An Evening with Cole Porter' next month.

The evening will include performances from Sondheim's canon by Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza), Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple), Joaquina Kalukango(The Color Purple), Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, CSC's Passion), Marin Mazzie (Kiss Me, Kate) and Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof). Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

AMERICAN SHOWSTOPPERS - featuring Fred Barton & His Orchestra and starring a cast of today's best Broadway performers - will present "An Evening with Cole Porter" at Pace University's Schimmel Center in New York on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 PM and then Kingsborough Community College's Goldstein Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 5 at 8:00 PM.  The cast of outstanding Broadway performers includes Beth Leavel (Tony Award winner for The Drowsy Chaperone), Sean McGibbon, Paula Leggett Chase, Damon Kirsche, Karen Murphy and Jesse Luttrell in addition to the Scott Thompson Dancers. The show is produced, orchestrated, conducted and hosted by Fred Barton with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson.

Happy New Year, BroadwayWorld! As we eagerly anticipate the amazing musicals and plays coming up in 2016, we're taking a moment to look back at the significant Broadway closings of 2015.

In an unprecedented outpouring of support by performers, a second show had to be added to accommodate the number of stars that wanted to sing in honor of Barbara Siegel's contributions to the theater as first an Outer Critics Circle Nominator and then a Drama Desk Nominator (the latter, 18 years, 12 of those as chairperson of the Drama Desk Nominating Committee).
