The Hypocrites, Paramount Earn Top Honors at 47th Jeff Awards

Two theatres in their first year of Equity eligibility received the most awards at the gala 47th Annual Equity Jeff Awards held at Drury Lane Oakbrook on Monday, October 5, which celebrated a season of outstanding productions.

On the heels of a sold-out production of George Orwell's Animal Farm last season, Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) begins the 2015/16 season with another Orwellian masterpiece, 1984. Adapted by Andrew White and directed by SYA Artistic and Educational Director Hallie Gordon, Orwell's 1984 receives a cutting-edge, multi-media production with projection design by Joseph A. Burke and photography direction by Joel Moorman.

A Red Orchid Theatre announces full cast, creative team and new run dates for the World Premiere of Pilgrim's Progress by Ensemble Member Bret Neveu (The Opponent), directed by Ensemble Member Shade Murray (Mud Blue Sky, Accidentally like a Martyr).  Pilgrim's Progress will now run November 4-December 13, 2015 and feature Ensemble Members Kirsten Fitzgerald and Michael Shannon with Ryan Bourque (The Hypocrite's All Our Tragic) and Charlotte Mae Ellison (Writers Theatre's The Diary of Anne Frank).

On the heels of their critically acclaimed hit ALL OUR TRAGIC, The Hypocrites are pleased to continue their 2014-15 Season with another world premiere: a playful re-imaging of Gilbert and Sullivan's comic opera H.M.S. PINAFORE, adapted and directed by Founding Artistic Director Sean Graney, co-directed by Thrisa Hodits with new arrangements by Matt Kahler* and Andra Velis Simon. In what has become an annual celebration of the Gilbert and Sullivan canon, H.M.S. PINAFORE will run in repertory with remounts of the company's wildly popular productions of THE MIKADO and THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, also adapted and directed by Graney. All three productions will be helmed by ten creatively cast performers acting as their own orchestra, with music direction by Andra Velis Simon. Scroll down for a first look at the latter two shows!
