As the original New York production (produced by Daryl Roth) celebrates its milestone 250th performance, Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse's production of Love, Loss and What I Wore opens tonight at their Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater.

What starts as an innocent lunch between a septuagenarian Mom and her two adult children degenerates into a fierce game of cat and mouse which leads to a confession that will radically upset the lives of the entire family. In Joel Drake Johnson's darkly humorous play, a weekly family outing takes some unimaginable turns.

The Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center announced an expanded season of productions, artists, local discoveries, and new film and performance series. Unbeknownst to him, the board of the directors unanimously voted to name the organization's main stage the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse, an honor that actress and longtime supporter of the theater Rita Wilson announced at yesterday's event.

Producer Daryl Roth announced today that Jayne Houdyshell and Carol Kane will join the March cast of Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's hit Off Broadway show, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, which has been playing to sold-out houses at the Westside Theatre. They join the previously announced Didi Conn, Fran Drescher and Natasha Lyonne. Rosie O'Donnell, who performed as part of the opening cast and was to return to the show in March, had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts and family obligations.

Great Lakes Theater Festival (GLTF) alumnus, and two-time Oscar award-winner, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson made a significant gift to the Festival over the holidays enabling the company to successfully achieve its Re-Imagine a Classic Campaign fundraising goal. Hanks has served as the Honorary Chair of the fundraising efforts to ‘re-imagine' the Hanna Theatre as the new home for the Festival and to establish an endowment for the classic theater company since 2008. Although the amount of the gift is confidential, the donation will be used to create a permanent endowment to support Festival artists called The Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Fund for Artists.

The awards ceremony was seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements.
