Depression And Theater: Brian Copeland's THE WAITING PERIOD Extends at The Marsh

The Marsh San Francisco adds three free performances of Brian Copeland's The Waiting Period, due to ongoing support from a GoFundMe campaign. This deeply moving and surprisingly funny work outlines Copeland's own struggles with depression and suicidal thought, and is presented at no cost to remove all barriers for those who may be struggling with depression themselves. Featuring humorous, poignant, and riveting insights, the solo show written by Copeland and directed by David Ford, will take place 5:30pm Sundays March 25 - April 29, 2018 (see exact schedule below), at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia Street. General admission for this performance is free, although reservations ($55-$100), are recommended. Montalvo Arts Center continues its acclaimed Carriage House Concert Series with a rollicking solo appearance by Lee Rocker, co-founder of the famed rockabilly band The Stray Cats. Rocker made his mark standing on, spinning, and rocking out on his giant upright bass, prompting the Orange County Weekly to declare "there has never been a rock 'n' roll bass player more fun to watch in concert." With the Grammy-nominated The Stray Cats, which has sold over 10 million albums and garnered an astounding 23 gold and platinum certified records worldwide, Rocker recorded hits including "Stray Cat Strut," "(She's) Sexy +17," and "Rock This Town," listed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the songs that shaped rock 'n' roll. Rocker has also played and recorded with musical legends including Carl Perkins, Scotty Moore, Wanda Jackson, Levon Helm, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, among others. Abramorama, in association with Concord Music, announced today (2/8) they will present a special limited theatrical run of Concert for George, remastered in 5.1 Stereo Surround Sound beginning February 20, 2018. February 25th marks what would have been George Harrison's 75th birthday. Due to an overwhelming response from theaters in North America, the film has already been booked into more than 75 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, with the list growing daily. The International roll-out of the film will be announced next week.
