The 2011-2012 school year marks Chicago Academy for the Arts' 30th anniversary year, and a year-long series of events and activities celebrating the occasion will culminate with A Taste for the Arts/30th Anniversary Gala, tonight, May 10, 2012 at the Harris Theater and Millennium Park Terrace. This evening, hosted by Rick and Deann Bayless and Donna LaPietra and Bill Kurtis, and chaired by Stephen Flach and Chris Fryson, with honorary chair Mayor Rahm Emanuel, civic committee chair Barbara Levy Kipper and arts committee chair Jim Belushi, will highlight student and alumni art and performance alongside the dazzling cuisine of Chicago's top chefs, including Rick Bayless, Sarah Grueneberg, Tony Mantuano, Stephanie Izard, Chris Jones, Richie Farina, Dale Levitski, Amanda Rockman, Heather Terhune and Takashi Yagihashi.

The culinary and theatrical experience of the year runs for four weeks only, March 21 through tonight, April 22, 2012 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. In the premiere episode, the artists are randomly put into pairs for their first elimination challenge. They learn that after only one night together, their mission is to create a piece of art that captures the essence of a fellow competitor. Host and judge China Chow, alongside series judges Bill Powers, a New York Gallery owner, Jerry Saltz, senior art critic for New York Magazine, and Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, gallerist Salon94 gallery in New York City must determine who makes the cut and who is not 'The Next Great Artist.'
