Moliere's classic comedy of hypocrisy 'Tartuffe,' will be brought to The ADOBE Theater this month. Director Micah Linford sees important parallels between the pious fraud of the title and other characters, real and fictional, in every era. [Think of Jim Baker or Elmer Gantry.] He has set this production in the 1930s U.S. with reference to the Depression.

The Liar, a Pierre Corneille comedy about how love can survive amid tall tales, will be presented by the James Bridges Theater April 18 - April 21. All performances will be recorded live in front of an audience (without sets or costumes) to air on L.A. Theatre Works' syndicated radio theater series, which broadcasts weekly on public radio stations nationwide and can be streamed on demand at www.latw.org.

Richard Bausch Receives Centenary's Corrington Award Tonight

Acknowledged master of the short story Richard Bausch has been selected to receive the 2013 John William Corrington Award for Literary Excellence from Centenary College of Louisiana. This February award ceremony, which will include a reading by the author, is free and open to the public.

Locke, Ph.D., author of books on gossip, eavesdropping, and other aspects of human communication, will speak at "Books Worth Talking About," tonight, July 24, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the Lucille Lortel White Barn Center at Westport Country Playhouse, followed by an 8 p.m. performance of Moliere's timeless comedy, "Tartuffe."

Westport Country Playhouse will stage Moliere's timeless comedy, "Tartuffe," featuring in the title role three-time Tony Award-nominee Marc Kudisch (Broadway's "9 to 5," "The Apple Tree," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "Assassins," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Bells Are Ringing," "The Wild Party," "The Scarlet Pimpernel (3.0)," "High Society," "Beauty and the Beast," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and "A Minister's Wife."). David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director, will helm the production playing July 17 through August 4. The work is translated by Richard Wilbur.
