John Raitt Collection Featured at Library of Congress

The Music Division of the Library of Congress will receive an extensive collection of Broadway and personal memorabilia from the estate of Broadway giant John Raitt, who originated the role of Billy Bigelow in the Rodgers and Hammerstein show 'Carousel' and also starred in 'The Pajama Game,' 'Oklahoma!' and other top musicals from the 1940s to the 1960s.

Stephen Sondheim's second book, a follow up to his 'Finishing The Hat', is now available for pre-order. Entitled, 'Look, I Made a Hat: Collected Lyrics (1981-2011) with Attendant Comments, Amplifications, Dogmas, Harangues, Wafflings, Diversions and Anecdotes,' Amazon is taking pre-orders here. The book was scheduled for release on October 25, 2011, but has now been moved to November 22, 2011.

The Marcy & Zina Show Returns to Birdland, 10/3

Singing OnStage Productions is pleased to present Side By Side By Sondheim, a fundraiser launching the new company's inaugural season of shows. Artistic Director Richard Biever will direct a cast of four, including Sally Wilfert* (Assassins, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer) Kate Wetherhead* (Legally Blonde, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Paul Anthony Stewart* (The People in the Picture, Cyrano: The Musical, Fiddler on the Roof; TV: The Guiding Light, Loving), and Barbara Walsh* (Company, Hairspray, Falsettos) as the Narrator. Side By Side By Sondheim will be performed at The Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd Street, NYC 10036 on September 13 & 15, 2011 at 7pm. Utah Shakespeare Festival will present the World Premiere of Mr. Nabel's new play LYING TO SPIELBERG at the Auditorium Theatre (351 West Center Street) in Cedar City, Utah on August 11, 12 and 31. And the Village Theatre will present the West Coast Premiere of TAKE ME AMERICA, a new musical with book and lyrics by Mr. Nabel and music by Bob Christianson from September 14 through November 20 at the Village Theatre of Issaquah, WA and the Village Theatre of Everett, WA.
