Marshall Opera, New York’s newest opera company, presents its inaugural concert, the “Oral History Project Concert” on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 7:30 pm at The Cell Theatre in New York City. 

On Saturday evening, May 6, 2023, at the Liederkranz, the establishment of Marshall Opera, New York City’s newest opera company, was announced.

The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced today the nominations for the 31st Annual Gotham Awards, singling out 29 feature films, 16 series, and 32 performances for recognition in twelve award categories. 'Passing' and 'The Lost Daughter' led this year's nominations.

Requiem, an exhibition of work by Gerry Lynch, is the newest exhibit in the Betty Ray McCain Art Gallery located at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Francesca Campagna has been named General Director of the Center for Contemporary Opera, effective immediately.  As a globally renowned artistic manager and consultant to cultural institutions, she has built a formidable reputation for her deep knowledge of opera, and her ability to extend the reach of preeminent artists and institutions to new audiences.  It is this rare combination that made her the CCO Board's choice.

The MacDowell Colony has awarded fellowships to 86 artists from 18 states and nine countries. Fellows will arrive from Texas, Maine, and Montana, and from as far as Chile, Australia, China, and Israel. They are working in seven disciplines, and 29 percent identify as culturally diverse. The fellowships are for upcoming late winter and spring residencies at one of the nation's leading contemporary arts organizations. 

Osmo Vanska announced plans today at the Minnesota Orchestra's annual meeting to conclude his tenure as Music Director of the Minnesota Orchestra in August 2022. The 2021-22 season, his final as music director, will mark his 19th year at the helm of the Minnesota Orchestra, capping what is widely considered one of the great musical partnerships in Minnesota Orchestra history. Beyond 2022, Mr. Vanska and the Minnesota Orchestra will maintain their musical relationship, with Mr. Vanska returning for ongoing concert engagements.

Jim Schaeffer, the Artistic & General Director of the Center for Contemporary Opera since October 2008 announces his retirement, effective June 30, 2018.   A search for a new General Director will begin immediately. 

The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's Scare Pair, a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost - together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues).

Final casting is announced today for the world premiere of Outlaws to In-Laws, seven one-act plays by leading gay writers dedicated to the struggles and joys of gay men connecting with each other over the last seven decades.

On Friday, February 19, 2010 at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South, NYC), a gala evening will be held to benefit the Center For Contemporary Opera (CCO). The evening, hosted by WQXR radio host Midge Woolsey, celebrates the success of CCO's 2009-2010 season, which concludes on June 15 with the world premiere of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a fully staged opera by John Eaton at Symphony Space.
