The Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center announces its upcoming events for September 2012.

North Coast Repertory Theatre presents a San Diego premiere of The Underpants, adapted by Steve Martin and written by Carl Sternheim. The show begins previews September 5-7 and continues September 8 through October 7, 2012.

Marin Theatre Company continues its 2012/13 Season with Suzan-Lori Parks's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Topdog/Underdog, which runs from September 27 to October 21.

VanKnight Productions and the Yellow Rose Dinner Theatre present the Award Winning Production of THE ARIZONA KID U.S. MARSHAL, September 7-29, 2012.

The Pasadena Playhouse, in association with W.I.T. Productions, presents UNDER MY SKIN, featuring Hal Linden. This World Premiere engagement of UNDER MY SKIN is written by the award-winning team of RoBert Sternin and Prudence Fraser and will be directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge. Performances will begin September 11 and run through October 7, with an official press opening on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at The Pasadena Playhouse. The North Carolina Symphony honors an American original with its season-opening Pops Series concert, "The Music of Ray Charles," at downtown Raleigh's Meymandi Concert Hall, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29, 8:00 p.m. Charles's protege, friend and fellow Georgia native Ellis Hall joins the orchestra and Symphony Resident Conductor William Henry Curry for an evening of R&B and soul classics.

Mike Stoller, of the legendary Grammy Award-winning songwriting team of Leiber & Stoller, will appear for a book signing of "Hound Dog: The Leiber and Stoller Autobiography" at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Question and Answer Session and screening of the 1957 Warner Bros. classic film (originally made by MGM), "Jailhouse Rock" starring Elvis Presley at 2:00 p.m. today, August 19, 2012 at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Calif. The screening will celebrate the life of The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley, while simultaneously commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the late singer's passing.

The Tierney Sutton Band performs tonight, August 12th at 7:30 pm at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, as part of the Cooperstown Summer Music Festival.

It may be the final week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, but the festival isn't winding down when it comes to exciting performances. This week, Lincoln Center celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Soul at the Center, highlighted by Valerie Simpson's first tribute to her late partner, Nick Ashford, since his passing. The pair that wrote such Motown hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)," and "I'm Every Woman," made their performing debut as a duo at Lincoln Center 40 years ago. The Tribute takes place on Friday, August 10 at Damrosch Park.

Tonight, August 6th, as the CJO continues its popular summer residency at Andy's Jazz Club, it will feature one of Chicago's premiere guitarists, Bobby Broom. As one of Chicago's most recognizable musicians, Bobby Broom is also a composer and educator, as well as the founder of the Deep Blue Organ Trio. Adept at many musical styles, he performs Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B and the Blues, and has worked with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Stanley Turrentine, Miles Davis and Ramsey Lewis.
