The New York Philharmonic will present the second season of THE ART OF THE SCORE: Film Week at the Philharmonic September 16-20, 2014, offering two concert programs of film music - La Dolce Vita: The Music of Italian Cinema and Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times: The Tramp at 100 - that highlight some of the genre's most distinctive uses of music. Music Director Alan Gilbert opens the New York Philharmonic's 2014-15 season on September 16 with the Opening Gala Concert, La Dolce Vita: The Music of Italian Cinema, with special guest Martin Scorsese, Oscar-winning director and film preservation proponent, who will deliver welcoming and introductory remarks. Award-winning actor, Philharmonic Board Member, and Philharmonic Radio Host Alec Baldwin returns as Artistic Advisor of THE ART OF THE SCORE.
Scottsdale Cultural Council Welcomes New President & CEO

The Scottsdale Cultural Council has appointed Neale Perl as its new president and CEO. A senior executive with more than 25 years of experience in arts administration and presenting, Perl is the president emeritus of D.C.-based Washington Performing Arts, where he served as president and CEO from 2002 to 2013. He will begin his new position on Aug. 11, succeeding Scottsdale Cultural Council Interim President and CEO Richard Hayslip, who will continue to serve the organization as a member of its board of trustees.

The New York premiere of THE LAW OF RETURN, playwright Martin Blank's ('Closing Time,' 'Avenue of the Americas') original spy thriller inspired by events surrounding the Jay Pollard espionage case, is directed by Elise Thoron ('County of Kings') and features Joel Rooks ('Say Goodnight Gracie'), Ben Mehl ('Habit') and Andre Ware ('Halfway There') with preview performances beginning tonight, August 1 prior to an official press opening of August 7 at the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street, btw.
