Chautauqua Theater Company Announces New Play Workshop Festival, 7/21-31

Artistic Directors Vivienne Benesch and Ethan McSweeny are pleased to announce the four writers at the center of CTC's new play development work in Summer 2011: Kate Fodor will be in residence as the very first recipient of the Chautauqua Play Commission. Her residency will correspond with the New Play Workshop Festival that will feature fully staged readings of plays by Michael Golamco, Michael Mitnick and Molly Smith Metzler.

Kennedy Center Presents Penumbra Theatre's I WISH YOU LOVE, Opens Tonight

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents the Penumbra Theatre production of I Wish You Love written by Dominic Taylor and directed by Lou Bellamy. Following its world premiere at Penumbra Theatre in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the drama with music runs June 11 to 19, 2011 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. I Wish You Love is produced with the assistance of the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays. The press opening for I Wish You Love will take place on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. The production features Dennis W. Spears as Nat -King? Cole, singing more than 20 of Cole's beloved songs. Additional casting includes Kevin D. West as Oliver Moore, Eric Berryman as Jeffrey Prince, and Michael Tezla as Bill Henry.

LCT3's production of 4000 Miles, a new play by Amy Herzog, directed by Daniel Aukin, opens on Monday June 20 at 6:45 pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project (229 West 42 Street). LCT3 is Lincoln Center Theater's programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists and developing new audiences. 4000 Miles is the final of three productions during its 2010-2011 season.

The Private Theatre Announces 2011 Summer Scene Study Intensive with John Gould Rubin

The Private Theatre's Summer Scene Intensive consists of 6 rigorous weeks of class. It is designed to work through three genres of scene study: Classical (Shakespeare, 15th Century drama, etc.), 19th & 20th Century (Chekhov, Ibsen, Shaw, etc.), and Contemporary scenes. Everyone will work during every class and it is expected that everyone rehearse outside of class. The final class will be open to the public.

FREUD'S LAST SESSION, the smash hit play by Mark St. Germain, will host special post-performance discussions this Saturday matinee June 11th, Sunday matinee June 12th and Tuesday June 21st led by the playwright and the show's stars, Mark H. Dold (C.S. Lewis) and Martin Rayner (Sigmund Freud).
