Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) has announced the fourth production of their upcoming 28th Season. THE CALL by Tanya Barfield and directed by Leigh Silverman, will be co-produced with Playwrights Horizons at their Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

Lookingglass Theatre, Frontera Grill and Silverguy Entertainment announce additional performances of Rick Bayless in Cascabel: Dinner - Daring - Desire, a theatrical adventure featuring a feast, circus acts, and a love story starring celebrity chef Rick Bayless. The culinary and theatrical experience has been extended an additional week, through April 29, 2012, at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works.

Due to demand, SpeakEasy Stage Company is adding a seventh and final week of performances for its production of the groundbreaking musical NEXT TO NORMAL. Continuing its 25th Anniversary Season, the Shakespeare Theatre Company is set to present Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Strange Interlude.

The cast of the American premiere of the Royal Court Theatre's Olivier Award-winning new production, COCK will star Jason Butler Harner as M, Amanda Quaid as W, Cory Michael Smith as John and Cotter Smith as F. Written by Mike Bartlett and directed by James Macdonald, COCK will open Off-Broadway at The Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42nd STREET project, 229 West 42nd Street, on Thursday, May 17 and previews will begin Thursday, May 1.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for the Alley Theatre's production of the Conor McPherson's THE SEAFARER. The Seafarer, by Conor McPherson and directed by Gregory Boyd, begins previews Friday April 6, opens Wednesday April 11 and runs through Sunday, April 29, 2012 on the Hubbard Stage. Preview performances for the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park will begin tonight on Broadway. The acclaimed work by Bruce Norris, and directed by Pam McKinnon, will have its official Opening Night at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Thursday, April 19, for a limited 16-week engagement.

Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a free reading of: THE NOISE by Rachel Bonds, directed by Portia Krieger. The cast includes Peter Friedman, Greg Keller, Meredith Holzman, Maryann Plunkett and Merritt Wever.

As I arrive, things in the Walter Kerr Theatre seem fairly at ease. The team is joking and bantering across the house, and the actors mill about comfortably. But, work is happening fervently all around me. Between acts, the play travels 50 years in a 15 minute intermission, and the crew is busy dressing the not-quite-dry set. Will the sanding (and the noise that comes with it) be done in time for the run? And the milling actors are not shy with their questions for playwright Bruce Norris, or director Pam MacKinnon.

I have been backstage to several Broadway shows and every time is like the first time. Walking into a Broadway theatre during tech is like walking backstage at Disney World but twice as magical. The audience of the Walter Kerr Theatre, where Clybourne Park is located, is currently filled with tech tables, a table for the director, a table for lights, a table for sound, a table for set, a table for props, a table for stage management, and there are snacks on every table. You might not recognize the Walter Kerr Theatre during tech, the carpet and seats are covered with plastic to protect them.
