'Henry VIII' directed by Paul Mullins in now onstage at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey through November 9th. Area audiences should relish the opportunity to see a stellar cast in Shakespeare's epic pageant.

Next up on its Main Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents the Bard's epic pageant play Henry VIII. Centered around the tug-of-wars between church and state and husband and wife, the play culminates in the birth of England's future Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare's great patron and Henry's fierce and very female heir. Performances begin October 15 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets start at $25 for preview performances and $32 for regular performances. Student rush tickets for all performances are $15, available a half-hour before curtain for with a valid student ID. On Monday May 19, 7:30pm, Red Bull Theater will present a staged reading of THE ALCESTIAD and its satyr play THE DRUNKEN SISTERS by Thornton Wilder, featuring Michael Braun, Justin Blanchard, Michael Cerveris, Joel de la Fuente, Clifton Duncan, Laura Esterman, Stephen Friedrich, Philip Goodwin, Enid Graham, Caitlin O'Connell, Maryann Plunkett, Jay O. Sanders, Valentino Sella, Greg Sullivan, Sam Tsoutsouvas and Paxton Whitehead.

The Acting Company will present a staged reading of Nude with Violin, Noel Coward's satire on modern art, criticism, pretension and the value placed on art at 7 pm on Monday, March 24 at the Signature Theatre (Alice Griffin Jewel Box), 480 West 42nd Street (9th-10th Avenues).

Two River Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, continues its 2013/2014 Season with Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like it, directed by Michael Sexton (Two River's Henry V), the Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Society in New York. Performances will begin in Two River's Rechnitz Theater, 21 Bridge Avenue, on Saturday, January 25, with the opening night on Friday, January 31 at 8pm. Robert Pinsky's free adaptation of an 18th century epic is one more fabulous rediscovery of a near-forgotten classic to the company's production. The play is anchored by Steve Pickering's performance in the title role.
