BWW Previews: VAN CLIBURN TRIBUTE Comes to the Kauffman Center, 4/4

The Park University International Center for Music makes their debut at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts on Friday April 4 with the Van Cliburn Tribute Concert in Helzberg Hall. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the ICM, founded by Stanislav Ioudenitch who was a gold medalist in the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

THE DEATH OF KLINGHOFFER, LA DONNA DEL LAGO, THE MERRY WIDOW and More Set for The Metropolitan Opera's 2014-15 Season

The Metropolitan Opera's 2014-15 season will feature 26 operas, three of them company premieres, in six new productions and 18 revivals showcasing the talents of the world's leading singers, conductors, and theater artists. The three operas that will have their first-ever Met performances, each staged by a director making his Met debut, are John Adams's The Death of Klinghoffer, conducted by David Robertson and directed by Tom Morris, opening October 20; Rossini's La Donna del Lago, conducted by Michele Mariotti and directed by Paul Curran, opening February 16, 2015; and Tchaikovsky's one-act opera Iolanta, conducted by Valery Gergiev and directed by Mariusz Treli?ski. Iolanta will be presented in a double bill with a new staging of Bartok's one-act Duke Bluebeard's Castle, also conducted by Gergiev and directed by Treli?ski.

Heralded as 'one of the country's most perfect [Nutcracker productions]' by The New York Times, The Nutcracker will feature the company's full roster of professionals, as well as 26 trainees and over 150 accomplished students from The School of Richmond Ballet.

Delaware County Symphony to Present An Afternoon With Nina Vieru, 11/17

The Delaware County Symphony presents the second of its Chamber Concert Series for the 2013-2014 season on Sunday November 17, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Meagher Theatre of the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center at Neumann University, Aston Pa. The concert will feature a recital of inspiring violin music featuring Violin Sonata No. 2 in F Minor by George Enescu; Violin Concerto in D Major (First Movement) by Peter Tchaikovsky; Polonaise in D Major by Henryk Wieniawski, and Carmen Fantasy by Pablo De Sarasate. Ms. Vieru will be accompanied by Ana Vieru at the piano.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) presents "Ballerina Assoluta: A Tribute to Natalia Makarova" tonight, April 28 at 7:00 PM at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. This evening of dance will illustrate Natalia Makarova's contribution to the art of ballet by presenting some of her most iconic roles performed by today's leading dancers. Performers include Marcelo Gomes (American Ballet Theatre), Natalia Osipova (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg), Sergei Polunin (formally of The Royal Ballet), Tamara Rojo (The Royal Ballet), Yuan Yuan Tan (San Francisco Ballet), Ivan Vasiliev (American Ballet Theatre/Mikhailovsky Theatre St. Petersburg) and Diana Vishneva (American Ballet Theatre/Mariinsky Ballet). Ms. Makarova will narrate the program, reflecting on her experiences as a dancer. In addition, rare photos and archival footage will be shared.
