Repertory Philippines (Rep), the country's premier professional theatre company, holds open auditions for their new production of Peter Shaffer's psychodrama EQUUS on Monday, March 8, 2010, 5-9 p.m. (for major and minor roles) and on Friday, March 12, 2010, 6-9 p.m. (for the role of Alan Strang) at the Rep office, C2-A, Building C, 2316, Karrivin Plaza, Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City.

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's PRIVATE LIVES Closes 3/7

The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre will present a new staging of Noel Coward's PRIVATE LIVES. The play, set in a hotel balcony, will presented in the round in the new staging, by acclaimed Chicago director Gary Griffin. Performances for the production will begin January 6th. The company has added new seating to its Courtyard Theatre in order to accommodate Griffin's idea, adding seats around the proscenium.

According to the New York Times, following his stint as Oscar co-host this Sunday, Alec Baldwin will be heading back to the east coast to star as the psychiatrist Martin Dysart in Peter Shaffer's Equus this summer at Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y. The production will run from June 8 - July 13 at the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall.

'Equus' Award Winning Drama Comes To New Theatre

EQUUS by Tony winning playwright Peter Shaffer comes to New Theatre after its successful 2008 Broadway run. It is the primal and electric story about a 17 year old stable boy and the psychiatrist who seeks to understand the sexual and religious mystery which led the boy to commit an unspeakable and unbelievable act. Mr. Shaffer was inspired to write Equus after hearing about a crime involving a 17-year-old and set out to construct a fictional account of what might have caused the incident, without knowing any of the details of the crime.
