Prospect Theater Company will present a benefit concert reading of their 2008 hit musical, HONOR, at Baruch Performing Arts Center on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 6pm. There will be a pre-show reception in the lobby for Benefactor and Patron Level Ticket holders which begins at 4:30pm, as well as a post-show reception with the cast.

According to Variety, Peter Mills and Barry Wyner will be awarded the 2010 Kleban Prize in Musical Theater on June 21. Each will receive a prize of $100,000 at the ceremny which will be held at ASCAP.

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) has announced that the application is now available online for the sixth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters. The award is named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, who passed away on September 11, 2004.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents a week of musical theater cabaret on the Millennium Stage from February 8-13, 2010 at 6 p.m. 'Broadway Today and Tomorrow,' curated by Michael Kerker and ASCAP, highlights up-and-coming composers at the piano with rising stars singing their works that are becoming the 'new standards' of Broadway. Featured artists include: Peter Mills with Kate Baldwin and Matt Cavanaugh (Feb. 8); Ryan Scott Oliver with Jay Armstrong Johnson, Alex Brightman, and Lindsay Mendez (Feb. 9); Steven Lutvak (Feb. 10); Alan Schmuckler and Michael Mahler with Abby Mueller (Feb. 11); Jordan Beck and Jonathan May with Mazie Wilson and Baraka May Williams (Feb. 12); and Valerie Vigoda and Brendan Milburn (Feb. 13). The Grand Foyer will be transformed into a cabaret as tables and chairs are arranged in front of the stage and drinks from the Foyer bars are available.

Sometimes, Christmas vacations come at a terribly inconvenient time. For a personal example, I left New York for the holidays just as Prospect Theater Company's newest musical, Evergreen, debuted. As such, I only got to attend the show on the day it closed. This is somewhat of a tragedy, because given the opportunity, I would have returned several times and encouraged the rest of New York to do the same.

On Monday, November 30, The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presented the fifth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich.
