Knowing you'll soon be surrounded by your own family, kooky or not, the World Premiere production of Catherine Butterfield's IT HAS TO BE YOU is offering New York audiences the opportunity to trade in their families and spend some time with the one she has created.

Catherine Butterfield's IT HAS TO BE YOU, directed by Stuart Ross, runs through October 26 at Abingdon Theatre Company's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street), starring Peter Davenport, Adam Ferrara, Jeffrey C. Abingdon Theatre Company -- which has produced 83 new plays in its 21-year history -- launches its 2014-2015 Season with IT HAS TO BE YOU by Drama Desk nominee Catherine Butterfield (JOINED AT THE HEAD), set to begin previews tonight, October 3, at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Official press opening is set for Sunday, October 12, with performances through October 26. Drama Desk nominee Stuart Ross (ENTER LAUGHING, FOREVER PLAID) is set to direct.

A staged reading of Still Single will take place at the Roy Arias Theatre, Stage 2. April 7th.

SuEllen Estey (Sweeney Todd, State Fair, Barnum) leads the upcoming reading of Mother Jones and the Children's Crusade with book, music, and lyrics by Cheryl E. Kemeny of Crystal Theatre. The cast will also feature two time Tony nominee Robin de Jesus (In the Heights, La Cage aux Folles, Domesticated, Rent), N'Kenge (Motown, Sondheim on Sondheim), Sadie Sink (Annie), Marissa Miller (Wicked), Julie Benko (Spring Awakening, Les Miserables), Ava Demary (Matilda), Peter Davenport (The Sound of Music), and Kaye Tuckerman (Mamma Mia).

Chinese Mother Jewish Daughter Productions will present a developmental reading of Madame: The Musical on October 10 at Ripley-Grier Studios. The work was previously developed at the New York Musical Theater Festival's inaugural reading series in 2012.

Musicals Tonight! will present Same Time, Next Year, the Musical, based on Bernard Slade's 1975 play Same Time, Next Year with music and lyrics by Stan Daniels. This is a new work, never before seen in New York. It will run tonight, April 2-14, 2013 at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row.

Ken Davenport of Davenport Theatrical Enterprises presents a reading of the new play Schooled, written by Lisa Lewis and directed by Jules Ochoa, as part of the Davenport Developmental Reading Series. Schooled stars Tony nominee Peter Friedman (Playwrights Horizon's Circle Mirror Transformation), Sarah Steele (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's Slowgirl), Harry Zittel (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's All-American) and Zoe Winters (Lincoln Center Theatre/LCT3's 4000 Miles). The reading will take place tonight, December 3rd at 8pm at The Davenport Studios, located at 250 West 49th Street, Suite 304, in New York City.

Christmas is right around the corner, and so is Shakespeare & Company's annual production of David Sedaris' irreverent Christmas memoir, The Santaland Diaries. Once again directed by Artistic Director Tony Simotes, this will be the third and final year Shakespeare & Company calls on an actor to don the regulation pointy-toed socks. This year, Shakespeare & Company welcomes longtime Company member David Joseph Hansen to play Sedaris' less-than-merry autobiographical self, Crumpet the Elf.
