'Take a Shot' with Buck Creek Players as we wrap up our 42nd season of quality theater with The Playhouse Players Youth Production of BUGSY MALONE JR. Opening on Friday, July 29th, and continuing for two weekends through August 7th, curtain times are at 8PM on Friday and Saturday, with 2:30PM matinees on Sunday. All performances will be held at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue. A biennial fundraiser for The Blaine Jarrett Memorial Scholarship Fund, admission is $18 for everyone, with $3 from every ticket automatically donated to the scholarship fund. The exuberant cast of BYE BYE BIRDIE will 'spread sunshine all over the place' in this summertime sensation directed by Jenn Thompson. Ms. Thompson's new take on this youthful classic includes two new songs, 'BYE BYE BIRDIE' from the 1963 film and 'A Mother Doesn't Matter Anymore' from the 1995 television presentation along with crisp new dance arrangements by accomplished composer of Broadway, film and television David Krane.  Check out a sneak peek below!

The ruins of an abandoned WWII Nazi compound in Pacific Palisades, known today as the 'Murphy Ranch,' are the inspiration for a new play. The Athena Cats presents the world premiere of Blueprint for Paradise by Laurel M. Wetzork, opening July 30 at the Hudson Theatres in Hollywood. Laura Steinroeder directs a cast that includes Alex Best, Regi Davis, Ann Hu, David Jahn, Shawn Law, Peter McGlynn and Meredith Thomas.

“I . . . am a survivor,” Lisa Jason announces solemnly near the beginning of her poignant new cabaret show, Bullied to Beautiful, which premiered in its present incarnation last Wednesday night (it originally debuted last October at the Metropolitan Room) at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Uprooted at seven from Long Island to a small, homogenous, anything-but-friendly town on Cape Cod, Jason encountered relentless physical and verbal abuse at the hands of “blue-eyed, blonde-haired” kids “with alligators on their shirts.”

The hit musical, Happy Days, is based on the Paramount Pictures' television series.
