Over a four-day period each May, the Springer holds season auditions to survey talent for the upcoming season. Traditionally these auditions are attended by local amateurs, educational theatre practitioners, along with professional actors. Many of the professional actors travel to Columbus from Atlanta, New York, Nashville, or other cities around the US to be seen in person by Springer Opera House directors.

On Wednesday evening, the biggest names in sports and entertainment descended on the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles to celebrate the year's best moments in sports at The 2019 ESPYS Presented by Capital One. The show was hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan and aired live on ABC.  Morgan's opening monologue kicked off the night on a high note – the diehard sports fan brought the laughs while discussing his recent sports car dust up and ribbed former New York Giant Odell Beckham Jr. on his departure for the Cleveland Browns.

This Wednesday, the world's best athletes and biggest stars will join host Tracy Morgan for The 2019 ESPYS presented by Capital One. The star-studded evening celebrates the best moments from the year in sports and will air live on ABC July 10 from 8 p.m. ET - 11 p.m. ET from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

'Kudzu Covers the South.' That's the on-air slogan for WKDZ, a Columbus radio station at the center of the action of the Springer's original musical comedy opening November 8.

Last summer, Columbus theatre-lovers flew to New York to see Springer favorite Michael Stiggers make his Broadway debut in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.  There was a cheering crowd waiting outside the stage door, then dinner, toasts and speeches at Sardi's Restaurant.

The Springer Opera House has promoted longtime staffer Danielle Patterson Varner to the position of managing director.  The announcement was made at the Board of Director's meeting on May 22.

Mountain Dew today announced that actor, comedian and overall hardest-working-man-in-show-biz Kevin Hart will become the new face of MTN DEW KICKSTART.
