The world's largest solo theatre festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this upcoming season, with over 130 solo productions set to be presented at Theatre Row on 42nd Street between September 18 - November 23, 2014. In addition to its rich and diverse programming, the Festival recognizes artists of significant achievements in the solo theatre. The Old Globe will host the 2014 Globe Gala tonight, Saturday, July 26 in support of the theatre's education and artistic programs. The annual event will feature a one-night-only performance by Broadway veteran and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, Into the Woods, NBC's The Sound of Music Live!, 'The Good Wife,' 'Go On'), based on her smash hit New York cabaret (and new CD) In Constant Search of the Right Kind of Attention. Nina Doede, Deni Jacobs, and Sheryl White serve as Co-Chairs of the 2014 Globe Gala. Today we are saluting one of Broadway's best-loved leading ladies in honor of her new cabaret show kicking off this week at 54 Below, the one and only Patti LuPone.

Ben Rimalower's addiction to spending beyond his means has driven him to extreme lengths all his life. In BAD WITH MONEY he charts his sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing struggle to overcome his problem-or get rich trying. Written and performed by Ben Rimalower and directed by Aaron Mark, BAD WITH MONEY premieres at The Duplex (61 Christopher Street at Seventh Avenue) from September 4 through November 6.

UP Comedy Club is known for bringing the best stand-up comedy talent in the country to Chicago. This fall's line-up features many of the best-known names in comedy, including UP favorites Kyle Kinane and Greg Proops, returning to the UP stage once again after countless sold-out shows. Also returning to UP are Nick Thune, Moshe Kasher and Dana Gould. Appearing at UP for the first time are Bridget Everett and Dave Hill, Judah Friedlander, Jeff Ross, Yannis Pappas, Jerrod Carmichael and Todd Glass. Each show includes a feature stand-up comic and a local emcee who hosts the evening.

Alice Ripley won a Tony Award for her leading role in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical "Next to Normal," and was a Tony-nominee for the musical "Side Show" on Broadway. This summer, on August 2 and 3 at 7:00 PM, she joins the star-studded lineup of the celebrated Broadway @ The Art House series, with Jessica Means joining her at piano. In an evening, conceived and directed by Tony Award winner Scott Wittman, LuPone will perform an eclectic collection of torch songs by songwriters including Arthur Schwartz, Howard Dietz, Jule Styne, Sammy Cahn,Billy Barnes, Harold Arlen, George and Ira Gershwin, and Cole Porter. Don Heckman of The Los Angeles Times described the show as 'a beautifully paced, marvelously delivered torch-song exploration of the pleasures and pains of love; LuPone's remarkable, larger-than-life qualities and stunning musicality are distilled into the pure essence of her art.' Black, Blind and Beautiful, Peggy Easton's robust and gorgeous style will enthrall everyone who hears her. Once again, she is directed by ten-time MAC winner Lennie Watts -- and after two successful outings on June 9th and June 15th, Peggy is back again tonight, July 23rd.

After playing to sold out crowds at the recent 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival, the new hit comedy play - MEET & GREET returns for an extended run at Theatre Asylum-Elephant Space in Hollywood. The Encore! Producers' Award winner was written by t.v. veterans Stan Zimmerman (The Golden Girls, Roseanne, Gilmore Girls) & Christian McLaughlin (Married with Children, Desperate Housewives) and directed by Stan Zimmerman (Entertaining Mr. Sloane, Blink & You Might Miss Me, A Tuna Christmas). The outrageous comedy features an all star cast, including Daniele Gaither (Mad TV, Groundlings), Teresa Ganzel (Wall-E, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson), Carolyn Hennesy (True Blood, General Hospital), Vicki Lewis (NewsRadio, Chicago on Broadway) and Brendan Robinson (Pretty Little Liars). It runs for only twenty-four performances at Theatre Asylum-Elephant Space, 6322 Santa Monica Blvd in Los Angeles from Friday August 1st to Sunday September 21st with three performances per weekend, Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 4pm. In its first professional production since its Broadway debut, the musical comedy WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN makes its Chicago area premiere in a brand new production at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, September 11 through October 12, with a press opening on September 14. Earlier today it was announced that 54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, has a multi-year agreement with two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone. Twice yearly, LuPone will play two-week engagements at the venue. The agreement, which runs through 2016, launches with the upcoming July 21 - August 2 engagement, 'The Lady with The Torch.'
