Following on from the A Tale Of Two Cities, The Body Of An American and Every Last Trick, Royal & Derngate's Made In Northampton 2014 season continues with Patrick Marber's award-winning play Dealer's Choice. Taking to the Royal stage from Friday 23 May to Saturday 14 June, before transferring to Oxford Playhouse for a week, Dealer's Choice will be directed by Michael Longhurst, who recently directed The World of Extreme Happiness at London's National Theatre.

It may take a few minutes for a viewer to get his bearings within the world of WATER BY THE SPOONFUL. The canvas laid out by playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes stretches from Puerto Rico to San Diego, from Philadelphia to Japan. Characters go by their chatroom handles, and their relationships to each other - even among family members who meet face to face - are complicated and are not immediately made clear.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the availability of The National Theatre Story by Daniel Rosenthal, published by Oberon Books (London). Published to mark the National Theatre's 50th anniversary, Rosenthal's meticulously researched volume chronicles the political, architectural and artistic history of London's National Theatre, starting with its 19th-century origins through the inauguration of the National Theatre Company under Laurence Olivier at the Old Vic in 1963 up until the present day with the recent announcement of Rufus Norris as successor to Nicholas Hytner as artistic director.

New Brooklyn Theater has announced casting today for its site-specific production of Edward Albee's The Death of Bessie Smith at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. This rare revival will run for eight performances between January 9 and 19, 2014. Each performance will be followed by talkbacks or panel discussions with leaders in the arts, government, labor, and health. These discussions are intended to raise critical questions about health access, race, class, and the arts in New York.

Sources suggest that the role of 'Christian Grey' will likely go to Magnussen or THE FALL's Jamie Dornan, after SONS OF ANARCHY's Charlie Hunnam exited the film earlier this month.
