Alice Smith returns to the Blue Note for a special series of intimate acoustic performances on June 1 and 2. Following her debut release, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, Rolling Stone Magazine listed her as one of the top ten artists to watch in 2006, writing 'Smith could easily be lumped in with expressive chanteuses like Norah Jones and Alicia Keys, but she has a broader palette than either.' Smith was nominated for a Grammy in '07 in the Best Urban/Alternative category, and her songs have been featured on numerous TV shows including Entourage and The L Word. For her Blue Note performances, Smith will be performing new acoustic material.

Nearly 7,000 fans attended 2009's Istanbulive at SummerStage, making it one of the top-attended Central Park shows of the year. How best to improve on that success? According to event producers Serdar Ilhan and Mehmet Dede, by gearing the festival more toward the casual listener. 'Radio Happy Hour' moves to a new taping time at night on Tuesday June 15th. The new episode will feature Nick Thorburn (aka Nick Diamonds) from Islands (Islands will also be performing a few songs) as well as actor Eddie Kaye Thomas (from HBO's 'How To Make It In America'). The episode will be performed live at (le) Poisson Rouge, June 15th at 7:30pm. Doors will open at 7pm. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day-of.
