Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC), presenters of the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival announce the west coast premiere of  THE SNOW GEESE by Sharr White (The Other Place), directed by Independent Shakespeare Co.'s Managing Director David Melville.  THE SNOW GEESE will begin previews on Saturday, March 11, will open on Friday, March 17 at 7:30pm and performs through Sunday, April 9 at Independent Studio in the Atwater Crossing Arts + Innovation Complex, 3191 Casitas Ave., #168 in Atwater Village.

After his mother's sudden death, Zucchini is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this at times strange and hostile environment. But with Raymond's help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own. From its debut in Director's Fortnight at Cannes to winning audience awards at festivals around the world, this accomplished debut feature from director Claude Barras, based on a script from acclaimed writer/director Céline Sciamma (Girlhood, Tomboy), has now been nominated for both an Academy Award® and Golden Globe Award® for Best Animated Feature. Brought to life through memorable character designs and expressive stop-motion animation, the story soars with laughter, sorrow, and joy, and stands as a testament to the resilience of the human heart. 

'Zucchini' may sound like a weird name, but after the accidental death of his mother, the nickname is all the nine-year-old has left of her. The kids at his new group home seem to understand and, though hesitant at first, Zucchini soon finds himself part of their close-knit, makeshift family. So upon the arrival of the winsome Camille, he is quick to offer his own warm welcome. But when Camille's greedy aunt tries to take her away, Zucchini and his newfound friends must find a way to stay together. Turner's TBS is partnering with the New York Comedy Festival (NYCF) to amplify the week-long comedy event that will run Tuesday, Nov. 7, through Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, with over 200 comedians performing in more than 60 shows in the most prestigious venues across New York City.

Independent Shakespeare Co. (ISC), presenters of the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival announce a month long series of unique events and workshops to celebrate the art of theater making. ISC's iambic lab begins on Saturday, January 28, with a reading of a new version by Charles Edward Pogue of Henrik Ibsen's THE PRETENDERS, and will end on Saturday, February 25 with a preview of ISC's upcoming West Coast premiere production of Sharr White's THE SNOW GEESE.
