The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to present DUETS with thewriteteachers.com Volume 4, in a special LGBTQ+ Edition.  This one-night-only event will benefit the One Orlando Fund.

Flat Rock Playhouse is kicking off its 2016 mainstage season with the international hit musical Million Dollar Quartet - the story of four pioneers of rock 'n' roll and how they came together for one night in what is undoubtedly the most electrifying jam session in all of music history.

The Tony Award winning musical Million Dollar Quartet takes place on December 4, 1956 at Sun Records when the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll' Sam Phillips brought together his top four stars - Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and a young and up and coming Elvis Presley - for one night only in his tiny storefront Memphis recording studio. The auspicious occasion resulted in this seminal moment in music history with new recordings of such rock 'n' roll, gospel, R&B and country hits as 'Blue Suede Shoes,' 'Fever,' 'Walk the Line,' 'Sixteen Tons,' 'Who Do You Love?,' 'Great Balls of Fire,' 'Folsom Prison Blues,' 'Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On,' 'Hound Dog' and more. But beyond the electrifying smash hits, Million Dollar Quartet is an irresistible tale of fame, broken promises, betrayals and triumphs that is deeply moving, hilarious and engaging. On this third volume of DUETS with thewriteteachers.com, a smaller group of Broadway hopefuls will be singing duets with the showbiz professionals who have inspired them in their own careers.

Kalamazoo is represented in large numbers and with great pride in The Big Apple. The Kalamazoo shootings left people across the country in shock - our friends, former students, and family in New York City were no exception. In response, several WMU Theatre alums and Kalamazoo natives who now reside in NYC are coming together to produce KALAMAZOO STRONG: A BENEFIT CABARET The event will be held Monday, March 7th at 9:30pm in the Laurie Beechman Theatre in Manhattan.

Dave Schoonover (The Fantasticks, Young Frankenstein) and Abigail Shapiro (How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Liberty the Musical) are set to join the cast of Love Songs for V-Day at 54 Below!

The third volume of the concert features a cast of dynamic performers from the Broadway and NYC theatre communities, singing songs from across the musical theatre spectrum about, well, love. The love we make, the love we take, the love we find, and the love we hold onto - this evening will see and sing us through it all. This year, the song selections feature female musical theatre writers and composers.
