The Dramatists Guild Fund just welcomed a slew of stars for their 2015 Gala, GREAT WRITERS THANK THEIR LUCKY STARS, which was hosted by musician and Emmy-nominated composer, Darren Criss. Directed by Leigh Silverman (Violet, The Wild Party, Chinglish) with Music Direction by Charlie Rosen, the event featured award-winning playwrights, lyricists and composers introducing the stars who brought their work to life on stage, including Stephen Schwartz, Kirsten Childs, Gretchen Cryer & Nancy Ford, Sheldon Harnick, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, Laurence O'Keefe & Nell Benjamin, Steven Sater and Benjamin Scheuer.

As previously announced, actor, musician and Emmy-nominated composer, Darren Criss will host and perform at DGF's annual gala GREAT WRITERS THANK THEIR LUCKY STARS at Gotham Hall (1356 Broadway at 36th Street) this evening, October 26 (cocktail reception at 6:30pm, dinner and celebration at 7:30pm).

The Dramatists Guild Fund hosted its annual presentation of new work by DG Fellows at Playwrights Horizons on October 19, 2015. The evening featured excerpts from work by the 2014-2015 class, including Naveen Bahar Choudhury, Camille Darby, Sophie Jaff, Dana Levinson, Kristine M. Reyes, Tim Rosser, Charlie Sohne, Mark Sonnenblick, Aurin Squire, Kathleen Tagg, James A. Tyler, Stacey Weingarten and Ben Wexler. Dramatists Guild Fund President Andrew Lippa and Executive Director Rachel Routh announce that actor, musician and Emmy-nominated composer, Darren Criss will host and perform at the annual gala Great Writers Thank Their Lucky Stars on October 26. Joining the previously announced line up are Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth honoring Stephen Schwartz and Mo Rocca honoring Laurence O'Keefe & Nell Benjamin.

An incredibly talented cast populate the West Coast premiere of Gretchen Cryer's I'M STILL GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER (AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD). This production actually includes the original 1978 I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road as the first act with the newly written second act set 30 years later.

The Gala is the most critical fundraising event for the Dramatists Guild Fund, the public charity arm of the Dramatists Guild of America. This very special evening pays tribute to legendary writers and recognizes their significant contributions to American theater.

The Gorges Motel, an evening of short plays by authors including Gretchen Cryer, will have its world premiere on Wednesday, October 7th, for a limited engagement of seven performances only - tonight, October 7th and October 8th, 9th 10th, 14th, 15th and 16th at TBG Theatre at The Barrow Group Studios (312 West 36th Street 3rd Floor). The production is directed by Five Time Emmy Award winner Chris Goutman.

The libretto is by Elizabeth Barkan with lyrics by Caroline Murphy and music by Youn-Young Park. Gerry Deiffenbach is Musical Director.

Get the inside scoop!  Due to popular demand, The York Theatre Company, as part of its acclaimed Developmental Readings Series, will present the return one-night performance of Call My Publicist! - The Starry Education of a Broadway Press Agent, written and performed by Joshua Ellis and directed by Gretchen Cryer, on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  The reading is open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

The Boston Gay Men's Chorus annual Pride concert on Sunday at Symphony Hall featured Special Guest Laura Benanti, the Tony Award-winning singer/actress, also known to television audiences for her roles on "Nashville" and "The Good Wife." In a program with selections ranging from musical theater greats like Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kander and Ebb, and Stephen Sondheim, to pop artist Madonna and a newly commissioned piece, the BGMC and Benanti seemed to inspire each other to perform at the highest level of their combined vocal abilities, spiced up with some flashy dancing boys and refreshing comedy stylings by the guest artist.
