To launch its 50th anniversary season, The Negro Ensemble Company (NEC) will revisit its very first production, 'Day of Absence' (1966) by Douglas Turner Ward, with an eight-performance run December 4-11 at Theatre 80 St. Marks, 80 St. Mark's Place. The season will include three more productions at Theatre 80 St. Marks and one at La MaMa.

Lines of light illuminate the pathway of a woman in flight. Her focus is razor sharp as she surveys men soaring around her in configurations that fluctuate between the flight patterns of birds and planes. Eventually these men hoist and entangle her in a never-ending series of lifts that keep her suspended as she writes on the air with her body. Skillfully made 'dancing for the sake of dancing' is a special treat to drink in especially when it stars a captivating wellspring of power like Alexandra Berger. For Dušan Týnek Dance Theatre's July 7th opening night concert at New York Live Arts, the radiance that Ms. Berger beamed in this opening piece proved hypnotic.

Music Director ?Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Also on the Classical Concert Series program are Barber's Medea's Meditation and Dance of Vengeance and Osvaldo Golijov's Rose of the Winds (BSO premiere). The Rite of Spring is the subject of Maestra Alsop's third Off the Cuff program of the 2014-2015 season, held Friday, January 9 at 8:15 p.m. at Strathmore and Saturday, January 10 at 7 p.m. at the Meyerhoff. Capitalizing on Marin Alsop's charismatic way of illuminating classical music, the Off the Cuff programs focus on one masterwork, allowing the Maestra to discuss the back story of the piece and the composer's life. Seven new members have joined Adventure Theatre MTC's Board of Directors: Kevin Shane (Chair), Business Consultant; Christopher Agan (Treasurer), Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Training; Patricia Figge Glowacki, Former Adventure Theatre MTC Board Chair and Supporter; Jan Donohoe McNamara, PBS; Leon Seemann, Yeshiva of Greater Washington; Julie Rosenthal, JR Communications; and HL Ward, President of Monument Bank. They have joined Adventure Theatre MTC's fourteen member Board of Directors.

On June 5, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum celebrated its 25th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of its historic landmark tenement at 97 Orchard Street with an extraordinary gala event that immersed guests in the vibrant culture of the Lower East Side. The event raised more than $700,000, nearly double the amount raised at the previous gala. Guests explored a 'living timeline' featuring photography, games, whiskey tastings, palm readings, pushcart shopping and more. Food, beverages and silent auction items were provided by more than forty local businesses, including Russ & Daughters, Economy Candy, the Pickle Guys, DiPalo's Fine Foods and Top Hops. Costumed interpreters portraying past residents of 97 Orchard Street interacted with guests.

The Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is thrilled to announce the opening of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Thoroughly Modern Millie on stage June 12 to July 6. Becky Gulsvig, plays small-town girl Millie Dillmount, who heads to New York City in 1922 to start a new life in a city filled with intrigue, jazz and a whole new set of rules for love! Her new flapper lifestyle leads to a series of madcap adventures when she checks into a hotel owned by a dragon-lady villainess audiences are sure to love to hate - played by none other than Ogunquit's favorite, Sally Struthers. This musical-comedy, based on the Mary Tyler Moore, Julie Andrews, Carol Channing film, opened on Broadway in 2002 and garnered six Tony Awards including Best Musical. A new glittering set design, along with the Tony Award-winning costumes and show-stopping dance numbers will be featured in the Ogunquit production. Musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages - Thoroughly Modern Millie!

After a sold-out show in September, The Magnet Theater welcomes back Luke Ward's To Be Continued . . . on January 7th 2011 at 7:00 PM. January's show is a tribute to one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1990's: Seinfeld.

Edward Stern, Producing Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park since 1992, announced today that he will leave the Playhouse at the end of the 2011-2012 season, which will also be his 20th season.

Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Things of Dry Hours, written by Naomi Wallace and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will begin performances Friday, May 22, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, June 28.

Individual ticket prices range from $600-$1,200 with table prices ranging from $6,000-$25,000.
