In 'The Past Is Still Ahead' by Sophia Romma, one of Russia's most ill-fated and controversial cult poets of the twentieth century, Marina Tsvetaeva, revisits the tumultuously tragic and sexy events of her life--just before she succumbs to 'suicide' at the hands of the Soviet Secret Police in 1941 while exiled in Siberia. The play will be presented by Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival tonight, July 23, 27 and 28 at The Jewel Box Theater, 312 W. 36th Street, 4th floor, NYC, directed by Francois Rochaix.

Stages Repertory Theatre is preparing their third installment of Roger Bean's delightful musical comedy series about The Marvelous Wonderettes. This whimsically nostalgic musical, entitled THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: CAPS AND GOWNS, takes audiences to 1958 and 1968, letting audiences revel in the high school graduation of The Wonderettes and Missy's marriage to Mr. Lee. The score features iconic pop standards like "At the Hop," "Dancing in the Street," "River Deep, Mountain High," and more. Recently, I spoke with Christina Stroup, who plays Betty Jean, and she filled me in about what Houston audiences can expect from the highly anticipated feel good musical.

The Solti Foundation U.S. today recognized the talent of five distinguished young American conductors. James Feddeck, Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, is the recipient of the 2013 $25,000 Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award. August Strindberg's Chekhovian comedy, 'Playing With Fire' (Leka med elden, 1893), in a translation by Ulrika Brand that has been newly adapted by Obie-winner Leslie Lee, Executive Director of Negro Ensemble Company, will be presented tonight, May 18 to June 10 with an all-black cast as the inaugural production of August Strindberg Repertory Theatre, directed by Robert Greer. The play, to be staged at New School for Drama, 151 Bank Street (West Village), will be a co-production of August Strindberg Repertory Theatre and Negro Ensemble Company in association with Theater Resources Unlimited.

After seven years of writing, re-writing, fine tuning, and revelatory readings, Alexander deJong's opulent Liberace musical, ALL THAT GLITTERS will be presented in its Pre-Broadway workshop from Tuesday, May 8 through Friday, May 11 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (450 West 37 Street - between Ninth and Tenth Avenues). The musical is aiming for an April 2013 Broadway Opening.
