American Repertory Ballet Gala Honors Princeton Ballet School's Maria Youskevitch Tonight

Maria Youskevitch, longtime faculty member at Princeton Ballet School, is one of this year's American Repertory Ballet Gala Honorees, and is the recipient of this year's Audree Estey Award for Excellence in Dance Education. Daughter of one of the leading dancers of the 20th century, Igor Youskevitch, Ms. Youskevitch brings a strong background in and deep knowledge of ballet to her students. She teaches for a variety of levels and, every year, re-stages a full-length classical ballet on Princeton Ballet School students for the School's Spring Production. She has also served as Rehearsal Director for American Repertory Ballet, the professional company associated with Princeton Ballet School, on several occasions.

Prince Alireza Pahlavi Foundation Announces Art Monaco 2013 Sale

The Prince Alireza Pahlavi Foundation announced today an exhibit and sale of artwork at Art Monaco 2013 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo from April 25-28, to benefit The Prince Alireza Pahlavi Fund for Ancient Iran Scholarship at Harvard University. Foremost amongst the works are exquisite prints of works by H.I.M. Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi, Empress of Iran, in memory of her late, lamented son H.I.H. Prince Alireza Pahlavi, who left us on January 4, 2011 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Maria Tallchief, the first Native American to win acclaim as a prima ballerina, passed away on April 11, 2013. While she worked with many companies and choreographers, she is most renowned for her collaboration with George Balanchine, first at The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and then, most importantly and famously, at the New York City Ballet. She was married to Balanchine from 1946 until 1952 when the marriage was annulled. Despite this interruption in their private lives they continued their professional association.

Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra present Tchaikovsky's mighty Fifth Symphony on a concert program that features the East Coast premiere of Steven Mackey's Stumble to Grace Concerto for Piano and Orchestra with pianist Orli Shaham. The Orchestra performs the Princeton University professor's concerto as part of the New Jersey Roots Project, which celebrates the music of composers whose artistic identity has been influenced by their time in the Garden State.
