Arsht Center Announces Carnival Studio Theater Season

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami Dade County proudly announces new and ongoing partnerships for the 2010-2011 CARNIVAL STUDIO THEATER SEASON, featuring four dynamic programming initiatives: THE BEST OF SOUTH FLORIDA, GROUNDBREAKING NEW WORK, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL THEATER, and FAMILY-FRIENDLY THEATRICAL HITS - all presented in the Carnival Studio Theater in the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House. This diverse new season highlights world-class theater, dance, and music that breaks boundaries, cross-pollinates artistic genres, and expands the future of the performing arts.

Burning Coal's 2010/2011 season will include: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD by Christopher Sergel from the novel by Harper Lee directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (September 9 - 26, 2010), ST. NICHOLAS by Conor McPherson, directed by Randolph Curtis Rand (November 4 - 21, 2010), CROWNS by Regina Taylor, directed by Rebecca Holderness (December 2 - 19, 2010), BLUE by Kelly Doyle, directed by Mark Sutch (January 13 - 30, 2011) and THE SHAPE OF THE TABLE by David Edgar, directed by Jerome Davis (April 7 - 24, 2011).

In the center of the New York City Theater District, acclaimed Broadway set designer Christine Jones publicly debuts 'Theatre for One', a four foot by nine foot portable theater with one performer playing to one audience member. The uniquely intimate theatrical experience will be available to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis which will end its showing May 23, 2010 in Times Square.

Eve Ensler's Obie Award-winning play, 'The Vagina Monologues', featuring Paula Brancati, was performed on March 13 and 14 to much acclaim.
