Stephen Sondheim turns 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he will celebrate this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.

Gingold Theatrical Group and Project Shaw celebrated St. Patrick's Day at Players Club with George Bernard Shaw scenes and snippets, plus Irish music and traditional corned-beef and cabbage dinner last night, March 17, 2010, as part of it's second annual St. Patrick's Day Gala. Tony Award-winning actress Sutton Foster returned to Broadway Artists Alliance to lead a master class in Song Interpretation. Ms. Foster worked one-on-one with each student, interpreting the lyrics and bringing out the best performance in each of them. Her down-to-earth personality and accessibility created a wonderful working environment.

Wall to Wall Sondheim, which took place on March 19, 2005, was one of those once-in-a-lifetime events-a Woodstock for Sondheim-lovers. Sondheim himself was there for all twelve hours, culminating in a big 75th birthday cake. On Monday, March 22, in celebration of Sondheim's 80th birthday, the entire event will be remembered with a webcast at Symphony Space Live (symphonyspacelive.org).

Following on the heels of their critically acclaimed and wildly popular production of The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, The Amoralists are currently presenting the World Premiere of Happy In The Poorhouse, written and directed by Derek Ahonen. The New York Philharmonic will present SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert on March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. This celebration of the 80th birthday of the great Broadway and film composer/lyricist will include his most enduring orchestral music and songs - performed, in some cases, by the stars of the original Broadway cast productions - in addition to rarely-heard material. Joining the celebration will be (in alphabetical order) Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Jason Danieley, Nathan Gunn, George Hearn, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald, Donna Murphy, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, and others to be announced, including surprise guests. Paul Gemignani, Mr. Sondheim's longtime collaborator, will conduct the New York Philharmonic; Lonny Price is the director; and Mr. Price and Matt Cowart are the producers.

Offering up greater variety, including more than 50 debuts from Sting to Wagnerian tenor John Treleaven, Ravinia Festival Chairperson Pamela B. Strobel and President and CEO Welz Kauffman today announced details of the 2010 season, including a Chicago Symphony Orchestra residency that celebrates major anniversaries of Mahler, Chopin, Schumann, Barber, Bernstein and Copland, as well as milestone birthdays of Music Director James Conlon, Christoph Eschenbach and Stephen Sondheim. The season, featuring 117 separate events, runs from June 3 through September 7.

Ravinia Festival's 2010 Gala Benefit Evening will honor the 80th birthday of the great American composer Stephen Sondheim with a program featuring an incredible lineup of soloists who have been featured in Ravinia's Sondheim celebrations since they began in 2001. The evening reunites the on-stage and behind-the-scenes talent that created Ravinia's acclaimed productions of Sondheim's shows, several of which have gone onto other cities. The evening will star Patti LuPone, Audra McDonald, George Hearn and Michael Cerveris.

Hamingson and Board Chairman Warren Spector officially launched the GOING PUBLIC Capital Campaign on Tuesday, March 9 at a ceremonial groundbreaking event attended by more than 150 people including, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kate D. Levin, and Board Members Gail Papp, Liev Schreiber and Sam Waterston.
