Rock WILK, playwright and performer, is combing the city for fifty survivors of gun violence who are willing to share their stories with the general public. This search is the root for the campaign, '50ShotIn10Days', coinciding with the performances of his new play, Brooklyn Quartet, which deals with many subjects, including race, privilege, relationships, and the Sean Bell shooting by the NYPD on November 25, 2006.

Victory Gardens Theater hosted We Must Breathe: A Response from Chicago Playwrights and Poets, a special event gathering members of Chicago's artistic community to share their views on discrimination, race and inequality and engage Chicagoans in a discussion about these social issues. We Must Breathe featured performances from poets and playwrights directed by Victory Gardens' Associate Artistic Producer Joanie Schultz, and a forum discussion on the performance topics, moderated by Congo Square Theatre's Artistic Director Samuel Roberson. Director Ethan McSweeny clearly knows his way around the play, and offers mature Washington audiences a visually rich, complex Tempest that has its share of magical moments, but which at its core is unvarnished by sentiment. And Geraint Wyn Davies gives us a Prospero who is a temperamental, gravelly, flesh-and-blood nobleman, more Hemingway than Santa Claus.

Artistic Director Carin Silkaitis is proud to announce the launch of The Other Theatre Company, a new Equity theatre company, and its debut production, Anna Deavere Smith's Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. The production, directed by Jason W. Gerace, will play at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St., January 23 – February 22. WASHINGTON, Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ Today, the Newseum announced it has collected more than a dozen items from protesters and journalists in Ferguson, Mo., following the August 2014 fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown and the November 2014 grand jury decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting. Later this month, the museum will update its Bloomberg Internet, TV and Radio Gallery to include artifacts from reporters who covered the protests from August to November, including rubber pellets from a stun grenade that police used to disperse protesters.

Cornish Dance Theater Presents Fall 2014 Concert This Weekend

Cornish Dance Theater, the performing ensemble of the Dance Department at Cornish College of the Arts, will feature choreography by Iyun Ashani Harrison, Jose Limon, Vivian Little, Michele Miller, and Amy O'Neal at its Fall 2014 Concert, which takes place at the Cornish Playhouse this weekend, Nov. 21 and 22. Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.
