During a presentation today for television critics, Pivot (www.pivot.tv announced that Jacob Soboroff and Cara Santa Maria have been named first co-hosts of the network's new, interactive late night series, 'TakePart Live.' In addition, Jim Downs has been tapped as showrunner and executive producer for the topical hour-long program set to premiere tonight, August 1 at 12am ET/11 pm CT.

During a presentation today for television critics, Pivot (www.pivot.tv) announced that Jacob Soboroff and Cara Santa Maria have been named first co-hosts of the network's new, interactive late night series, 'TakePart Live.' In addition, Jim Downs has been tapped as showrunner and executive producer for the topical hour-long program set to premiere Thursday, August 1 at 12am ET/11 pm CT. Airing live Monday through Thursday with a 'best of' installment on Fridays, hosts Soboroff and Santa Maria will, along with varying experts and contributors from their Los Angeles studio, go beyond the headlines and hashtags to address the stories that matter to Millennials.
FringeNYC to Launch August 9; Full Line-Up Announced!

The 17th annual The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will run August 9 - 25, 2013. The festival offers programming from 185 of the world's best emerging theatre troupes and dance companies in 20 venues in downtown Manhattan. With attendance topping 75,000 people, FringeNYC is New York City's fifth largest event (just behind New York International Auto Show, Tribeca Film Festival, New York City Marathon, and New York Comic Con).

Lower East Side Tenement Museum Celebrated with Gala Event; Nearly Doubled Funds Raised

On June 5, the Lower East Side Tenement Museum celebrated its 25th anniversary and the 150th anniversary of its historic landmark tenement at 97 Orchard Street with an extraordinary gala event that immersed guests in the vibrant culture of the Lower East Side. The event raised more than $700,000, nearly double the amount raised at the previous gala. Guests explored a 'living timeline' featuring photography, games, whiskey tastings, palm readings, pushcart shopping and more. Food, beverages and silent auction items were provided by more than forty local businesses, including Russ & Daughters, Economy Candy, the Pickle Guys, DiPalo's Fine Foods and Top Hops. Costumed interpreters portraying past residents of 97 Orchard Street interacted with guests.

Southampton art dealer Arthur T. Kalaher presented a fascinating survey of the works of Russian-born painter and poet, Nahum Tschacbasov at the National Arts Club covering his work from the 1930s until his death in 1984. This is the first important survey of his works in almost three decades. The exhibition which runs until June 16 is presented in conjunction with the 11th Annual Russian Heritage month sponsored by the Russian American Foundation in cooperation with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York Post. In 1994, Bette Midler returned to New York after nearly 20 years in Los Angeles, and started the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens, and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life. NYRP includes the beautiful New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park as part of its success, and is committed to helping restore parks and gardens devastated by Hurricane Sandy. JetBlue To Launch Composting Program At JFK's Terminal 5

JetBlue Airways (JBLU), New York's Hometown Airline, today announced a partnership with Air Ventures and Royal Waste Services to compost leftovers from select restaurants in Terminal 5 (T5) at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Air Ventures, the franchisee that owns and operates the Jamba Juice and Dunkin Donuts restaurants in T5 and Royal Waste Services have committed to work with the airline to separate and haul nearly 300 pounds of food waste each day for composting.
