David Whalen & Justin R.G. Holcomb to Lead PICT's THE CRUCIFER OF BLOOD; Cast Announced

PICT Theatre's final production of the season is the Pittsburgh premiere of Paul Giovanni's The Crucifer of Blood, a Sherlock Holmes adventure featuring characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Matt Torney directs. David Whalen returns to reprise the role of Sherlock Holmes since his 2011 turn as the master detective. Also returning from the 2011 production is Daryll Heysham as Inspector Lestrade. Justin R. G. Holcomb makes his PICT debut as Dr. Watson.

Triangle Club Returns to McCarter Theatre with ZERO GRAVITAS This Weekend

Page 73 Productions, now in its 16th year premiering the next generation of American playwrights - who have included Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegria Hudes, Drama Desk Award winner Sam Hunter, New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award recipient Dan LeFranc, and more - will present the New York premiere of George Brant's gripping new play GROUNDED, directed by two-time Obie Award-winning director Ken Rus Schmoll (TELEPHONE, A MAP OF VIRTUE) and starring Hannah Cabell (3C, A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS opposite Frank Langella) with preview performances beginning Off-Broadway on January 8 prior to an official press opening of January 16 at Walkerspace (46 Walker Street) in Manhattan. Folk Band Poor Old Shine to Take A.R.T. Stage in THE HEART OF ROBIN HOOD, Running 12/11-1/19

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, under the Artistic Direction of Diane Paulus, has announced that the folk band Poor Old Shine has joined the company of The Heart of Robin Hood to create and perform live original music. The production is written by David Farr and directed by Gisli Örn Gardarsson and begins performances Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Loeb Drama Center, Cambridge and runs through Sunday, January 19, 2014. It will be available for press viewing from Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30pm.

OSF Wraps 2013 Season

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival wrapped up its 78th season Sunday night with the final performances of The Taming of the Shrew and King Lear. Preparations for the 2014 season are well under way; member ticket sales start this week and previews begin February 14.

Tony Award-winning actors Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Spamalot) and Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, Elf), Tony nominee Annaleigh Ashford (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), and Broadway stars Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show], The Little Mermaid) and Derek Klena (Wicked, Dogfight) are all scheduled to take part in the developmental reading. Dog and Pony will receive its World Premiere at The Old Globe next spring, running May 28 - June 29, 2014; casting for that production will be announced at a later time.

American Repertory Ballet will be celebrating its 50th Annual Nutcracker Season throughout downtown Princeton. American Repertory Ballet's 50th Annual Nutcracker Season will come to McCarter Theatre Thanksgiving weekend: Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 7:00pm; Friday, November 29 at 1:00pm and 4:30pm; and Saturday, November 30 at 1:00pm and 4:30pm. Directly following the 4:30pm performance on November 30, at 6:30pm, American Repertory Ballet will hold a celebratory reception at The Nassau Club in Princeton.

Fresh on the heels of their sold out run of season opener The Grapes of Wrath, Trinity Rep continues their 50th anniversary season with the New England premiere of Christopher Durang's smash-hit comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Directed by The Richard L. Bready Artistic Director Curt Columbus, the show beings in previews November 21st in the intimate Dowling Theater and runs through December 22nd. Taking takes his cue from some of Anton Chekhov's most recognizable characters, Durang wickedly adds more than a dash of pop culture, a huge helping of dark humor and then lets the characters stew in a pressure cooker of their own devising.
