Canadian Stage presents an encore run of Needles and Opium by celebrated Canadian writer/director Robert Lepage. The magical mind-bending performance returns after impressing critics and audiences for a series of sold-out shows in Canadian Stage's 13.14 season, which also marked the production's English language premiere. Canadian Stage and Theatre francais de Toronto (TfT) announced that a special French performance of audience favourite, Kiss & Cry will be presented on Feb. 5, 2016 at the Bluma Appel Theatre (27 Front St. E). The performance is part of Kiss & Cry's limited 4-show run (Feb. 4 to 7, 2016) in Canadian Stage's 2015.16 season, and will feature English subtitles. The production of Chekov's 'The Seagull,' now on at the Berkley Street Theatre, is an uneven disappointment. It fails to engage. Like Theatre 20's production of Stephen Sondheim's 'Company,' presented in the same venue last year, this Crow's Theatre production does not deliver on its exciting promise. (more...)
