Canton Symphony Orchestra to Present Summer Serenades in the Park this Summer

CANTON, OHIO (May 24, 2016) – The popular program that combines the spontaneous sounds of nature and people enjoying a park with the orchestrated sounds of musicians is returning this summer.  Serenades in the Park is a free, family-friendly series of brass, woodwind, and string ensembles performing all over Stark County.  Everyone is invited to bring your favorite picnic food, games, and blanket or chair and enjoy the setting and music.

According to the 2014 Edelman Trust Barometer, only one in five respondents trusted business leaders to tell the truth and make ethical and moral decisions.

Miami City Ballet Releases Company Roster for Upcoming Season

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – (May 16, 2016) – Miami City Ballet (MCB) has announced its 50-member roster for the 2016-17 season, which opens on October 23 in Miami, including the promotions of Nathalia Arja to principal soloist and both Chase Swatosh and Shimon Ito to soloists, and the addition of four new dancers: Lauren Fadeley, formerly a principal with Pennsylvania Ballet (PAB) who is joining MCB as a soloist; Amir Yogev, another dancer from PAB who began his career with MCB; and Alaina Andersen and Luiz Silva, both recent graduates of Miami City Ballet School.

VENICE, ITALY – “Waiting for Qin Feng,” a solo exhibition of work by Chinese ink artist Qin Feng, will be on view in Venice from May 19-June 19, 2016. Installed in three locations including the former Monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore, now home to the Fondazione Giorgio Cini (the first contemporary Chinese art installation), The Armenian Catholic Monastery on San Lazzaro Island and Venice International University (VIU) on San Servolo Island, the exhibition will be presented in collaboration with the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and is curated by Achille Bonito Oliva and Ambassador Umberto Vattani. There will be a Vernissage and performance by Qin Feng at the former Monastery of San Giorgio Maggiore on May 19 beginning at 6pm, a seminar with the artist and curators on May 26 at the Navy Officer's Club at the Arsenale from 4pm-7pmand a press conference at VIU on May 27 at 3pm.

Richmond Symphony to Close Season with Concert, 5/15

May 11, 2016 – Richmond, Virginia We invite you to join us for two upcoming Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Program (YOP) spring concerts. Concerts presented by YOP highlight some of the region's top young musicians in which students from grades 2 to 12 make up four ensembles, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. The first concert will be held on Sunday, May 15 at 7pm and will feature the Youth Concert Orchestra led by Christopher Moseley, Camerata Strings led by Rebecca Jilcott, and String Sinfonietta led by Christie-Jo Adams.

Featuring breathtaking images and time-lapse videos of distant galaxies, nebulae and other cosmological wonders, The Cosmos is the final installment of an innovative film trilogy that began with The Planets in 2010, followed by The Earth in 2012.

Whereas the Europeans had already three years of experience in using code and cipher systems in a war, American cryptologists had to build a military intelligence unit from scratch. This is described by a collection of articles written by John Matthews Manly, a former cryptologist in the American Military Intelligence Division.
