Miss Hill: Making Dance Matter tells the inspiring and largely unknown story of Martha Hill, a visionary whose life was defined by her love for dance, and who successfully fought against great odds to establish modern dance as a legitimate art form in America.

Gotham Chamber Opera presents the final production of the 2014/2015 season, The Tempest Songbook, comprised of incidental music for The Tempest composed in 1695 and attributed to Henry Purcell and Kaija Saariaho's 2004 Tempest Songbook for soprano, baritone and period instrument ensemble, in its U.S. and World Stage Premieres.A co-production with The Martha Graham Dance Company, The Tempest Songbook will be performed in The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, with three performances from March 27 - 29, 2015. The Bearded Ladies Cabaret is teaming up with Bearded Extension Dito van Reigersberg on an all-musical, all-queer version of the cult classic film Mommie Dearest.

Get ready to mix up boundaries with WINTRY MIX, a curated sampler of new works crossing the divides between theater, dance and music. The Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series presents two opportunities to witness two different lineups of extraordinary performers on January 30 and 31 at 8:00 PM at the Hepburn Teaching Theater in Goodhart Hall. Each night features a different headliner joined by an array of other performers and concludes with an audience participation dance party. Most sets will last just twelve minutes, enabling the adventurous artists (and the audience) to take risks.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu announced today that RIOULT Dance NY is one of 919 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. RIOULT Dance is recommended for a $10,000 grant to support the creation and presentation of Artistic Director, Pascal Rioult's new work entitled Polymorphous.

This year's nominees for dance are Harrison Ball of New York City Ballet, Christopher Bloom of Ballet Hispanico, Russell Janzen of New York City Ballet, and Bevon Teuscher of American Ballet Theatre.

Music Director ?Marin Alsop will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) in Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 8 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 3 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore. Happy Birthday, Graciela Daniele! As a performer, Daniele made her Broadway debut in What Makes Sammy Run? in 1964. She studied with Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham while working with such luminaries as Bob Fosse, Agnes de Mille, and Michael Bennett, who hired her to assist him with Follies in 1971. Her first credit as a full-fledged choreographer was the 1979 revival of The Most Happy Fella. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, including, most recently, The Glorious Ones (2007) and Dessa Rose (2005) at the Off-Broadway Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center. She has directed and/or choreographed several musicals of Michael John LaChiusa Off-Broadway, most recently Bernarda Alba (2006) and Little Fish (2003).

The Noguchi Museum is pleased to announce that designer Jasper Morrison and architect Yoshio Taniguchi will receive the second annual Isamu Noguchi Award, given to recognize kindred spirits in innovation, global consciousness, and Japanese/American exchange. Motohide Yoshikawa, Ambassador of Japan to the United Nations, will present the award during a special ceremony at The Noguchi Museum's annual Spring Benefit on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Gloria McLean, a New York-based dancer, choreographer and teacher, is the founder and artistic director of LIFEDANCE/Gloria McLean and Dancers. From 1982-1993, Ms. McLean was a member of the Erick Hawkins Dance Company, performing in New York, the U.S., and internationally. She is considered one of the leading exponents of this American Modern Dance tradition.
