Coming off a celebrated run at the 39th Annual Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville, Kentucky, Pig Iron Theatre Company brings the rolling World Premiere of I Promised Myself To Live Faster, home for a run at FringeArts. The show is set to run tonight, May 22, through May 31. Opening night is Saturday, May 23 at 8 p.m.

Al Hirschfeld immortalized celebrities, politicians, Broadway productions, films, television shows and beyond with his iconic linear drawings for nine decades, establishing himself as one of the most important contemporary portrait artists. Over a decade since the legendary artist drew his final line drawing, he continues to inspire. This spring, Hirschfeld will be celebrated with the publication of a new book and a major exhibition at the New-York Historical Society.

Museum Mile Festival Set for 6/9

Now celebrating its 37th year, the annual Museum Mile Festival takes place rain or shine on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Over 1.5 million people have taken part in this annual celebration since its inception. Festival attendees can walk the Mile on Fifth Avenue between 82nd Street and 105th Street while visiting nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions, which are open free to the public throughout the evening. The Museum Mile Festival's opening ceremony takes place at 5:45pm at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (2 East 91st Street). New York City Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Tom Finkelpearl and other city and state dignitaries will open the Festival. Applications for Howard County Arts Council's Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Now Available

Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce that applications for the FY2016 Mark Ryder Original Choreography Grant Program are now available. This program was established at the bequest of Mark Ryder's family, in honor of his life's work, to recognize individual creative expression, and to provide financial assistance to choreographers to create new original work.  A fund has been established at the Columbia Foundation to enable monies to be awarded for this purpose in perpetuity.  The grant award recipients will be announced at HCAC's Annual Meeting and Grant Awards Ceremony in September 2015.  The minimum grant amount will be $500.

Joe's Pub Partners with Kimmel Center for 2015 Theater Residency Program

Joe's Pub at The Public has announced a new partnership with Philadelphia's renowned Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for the 2015 Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Under the tutelage of Shanta Thake, Director of Joe's Pub, and Jay Wahl, the Kimmel Center's Artistic Director, the two week program will guide four world-class artists through the writing process and composition of four new works. The program will be held in the SEI Innovation Studio (1500 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA) from June 21 to July 2.
