Michael Milligan's MERCY KILLERS Wins Fringe First Award at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Harold Clurman Laboratory Theater Company has announced that Michael Milligan's Mercy Killers is the recipient of The Scotsman Fringe First Award at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Milligan's one-man play is inspired by America's horror stories of the uninsured, many of whom suffer financial tragedies on top of chronic illnesses. The festival performance featured the debut of Mercy Killers outside of the U.S.

Complete casting has been announced for the critically heralded all-male Shakespeare's Globe repertory productions of William Shakespeare'sTWELFTH NIGHT and RICHARD III on Broadway this fall. The productions, which delighted audiences and broke all box office records in London's West End earlier this year, will open Sunday, November 10 at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street), with previews beginning October 15. Twelfth Night and Richard III, which are directed by Tim Carroll, designed by Jenny Tiramani and with music by Claire van Kampen, will play a limited engagement for 16 weeks. As a dramatist, Shakespeare was the consummate master of love stories. ROMEO AND JULIET is his iconic tale of young love. His tragedy ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA concerns the ill-fated midlife romance of its real-life hero and heroine. Now, Beatrice and Benedick, the sparring adversaries of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, will be re-imagined as senior citizens in The Old Vic's upcoming production, which stars Vanessa Redgrave (76) and James Earl Jones (82) in the lead roles.

Principal Production on THE GUNMAN Starring Sean Penn Begins

Silver Pictures and Studiocanal announce the start of principal photography of the international action thriller THE GUNMAN. Starring Sean Penn, the project unites the two time Academy Award winning actor with an extraordinary, unconventional ensemble cast including Javier Bardem, Idris Elba, Ray Winstone, Mark Rylance and Jasmine Trinca. Directed by acclaimed French helmer Pierre Morel, the compelling script is written by Peter Travis and is based on the novel The Prone Gunman by Jean-Patrick Manchette. Joel Silver and Andrew Rona are producing through Silver Pictures, with Sean Penn. The film is fully financed by Studiocanal who handles worldwide sales and will distribute it in its four territories. It is the second collaboration this year between Silver Pictures and Studiocanal after NON-STOP. THE GUNMAN will shoot mainly in Barcelona, Spain and London.
