Opera Parallele & Transgender District Announces EXPANSIVE 2023 Showcase Artists

Building on the overwhelming success of last year's Expansive initiative, Opera Parallèle and The Transgender District have announced plans to renew their collaboration and present a showcase of transgender and non-binary classical artists for two performances at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, August 3 and Friday, August 4 at A.C.T.'s intimate Strand Theater.

Opera Parallèle, San Francisco's leading producer of contemporary opera, will present the West Coast premiere of The Shining, the critically acclaimed opera by the Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award-winning team of composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell, for three performances June 2, 3 and 4 at the Blue Shield of California Theater, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

The Atlanta Opera Announces Teams For 96-HOUR OPERA PROJECT, June 9-12

The Atlanta Opera has announced that five creative teams have been selected to participate in the second annual 96-Hour Opera Project, a composition competition and showcase that pairs composers and librettists to write ten-minute operas. Bringing their completed works to Atlanta, the teams will workshop and rehearse their productions over four days from June 9–12, with travel, housing, singers, pianists and rehearsal space provided.
