 Malibu Playhouse presents "The Guys," by Anne Nelson, a reading tribute to firefighters, Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m., starring Ray Abruzzo (SOPRANOS, TRANSPARENT) and Wendie Malick (HOT IN CLEVELAND), directed by Dan Lauria. A portion of the proceeds from this benefit for the Playhouse will be donated to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 'The Guys," is the story of an editor and a Fire Chief coming together in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy to write the eulogies for 8 of the men lost in the rescue.  

Director Gregg T. Daniel returns to The Group Rep to direct Eric Simonson's critically acclaimed play LOMBARDI based on the book When Pride Still Mattered:  A Life of Vince Lombardi by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss.  In our conversation, Gregg talks about the play, his fascination with the nature of greatness, and what he's been up to as a director. Dan Lauria, the revered actor and now author of the new play DINNER WITH THE BOYS -- to be given its Off-Broadway debut this spring at the Acorn Theatre on Theater Row (410 W. 42 St.) -- will be recognized for his contributions to television and athletics: on Friday, April 10 he will receive the Distinguished American Award from the New Haven County Chapter of the National Football Foundation in Connecticut, and the beloved television series, THE WONDER YEARS in which Mr. Lauria starred for several years, will be honored with a special award on this week's TV Land Awards. Also on Tuesday, April 14 at noon, Mr. Lauria will be guest speaker before the Broadway Association in Manhattan.

DINNER WITH THE BOYS - a new play by the beloved actor and writer Dan Lauria (LOMBARDI, "The Wonder Years" and "Sullivan & Son")- will be given its Off-Broadway debut this spring at the Acorn Theatre at Theater Row (410 W. 42 St.) in New York City, with preview performances starting April 21 prior to an official opening night on May 4, it has been announced by the play's producer Pat Addiss.

According to Deadline, Tony winner Judith Light has signed on to join Henry Winkler in the ABC comedy pilot THE WINKLERS. The pilot comes from Winkler's son, Max Winker, son-in-law Rob Reinis, and EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND's Phil Rosenthal.

Although football's Super Bowl trophy is named for him, few know the real story of Vince Lombardi - his inspirations, his passions and his ability to drive people to achieve what they never thought possible. In the play, a diligent young reporter named Michael McCormick takes us inside the life of this legendary icon. Lombardi ran on Broadway in 2010-2011 coinciding with Green Bay's championship run which culminated with the Packers being awarded the Lombardi trophy for their victory in Super Bowl XLV.

'Lombardi,' a play about the legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi, made its professional area debut on September 20 at the Eagle Theatre in Hammonton, N.J. The theatre will be one of the first playhouses in America to produce the show since it close on Broadway in 2011, giving regional audiences a rare opportunity to catch this biographical drama.
