Deadline reports that Mamie Gummer has signed on to star in the CBS adaptation of the best selling Swedish book series BACKSTROM. The actress joins previously announced cast members Rainn Wilson, Dennis Haysbert and Kristoffer Polaha.

Cast Party host Jim Caruso turned one year older this past week, so the Monday night 'extreme' open mic was awash in birthday balloons and party hats. The cast of the Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roofshowed up to celebrate their success, and their very own 'Brick,' Benjamin Walker, performed a very blue/bluesy 'New York State Of Mind.' Second Stage Theatre just celebrated its annual All-Star Bowling Classic last night, February 4 at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge For over 25 years, stars of stage and screen have come out to bowl in support of Second Stage's award-winning seasons and to assist the theatre in its fund-raising efforts. HBO has confirmed a compelling array of timely and thought-provoking documentaries for the first half of 2013. Among the films are MEA MAXIMA CULPA: SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD, from Alex Gibney (HBO's Oscar(R)-winning 'Taxi to the Dark Side), exposing the systematic abuse of power in the Catholic Church; WHICH WAY IS THE FRONTLINE FROM HERE?: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF TIM HETHERINGTON, from Sebastian Junger (the Oscar(R)-nominated 'Restrepo'), an unflinching portrait of the late war photographer and filmmaker; and 50 CHILDREN: THE RESCUE MISSION OF MR. AND MRS. KRAUS, the never-before-told story of one couple's courage during the Holocaust.

Yesterday, the Sundance Institute announced the films from next year's Film Festival that will have a special screening in ten independent theaters across the United States. The screening will take place on January 31, 2013 as part of 'Sundance Film Festival USA.

The Line-Up has been announced for the 2013 Sundance Film Festival which will be held in Utah this January. The event marks the Festival's 29th year. This year, 113 feature-length films representing 32 countries will be presented.

According to Deadline.com, The CW's medical drama 'Emily Owens, M.D.' starring Mamie Gummer, has been cancelled.

Sundance Institute announced today the films selected for the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions and the out-of-competition NEXT <=> section of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.
