The first major revival of David Hirson's Olivier Award-winning comedy LA BÊTE starring Tony and Olivier Award winner Mark Rylance, Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce, and BAFTA Award winner (and star of 'Absolutely Fabulous') Joanna Lumley began previews at Broadway's Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street) on September 23, 2010. This new production, helmed by acclaimed director Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage, Boeing-Boeing, The Norman Conquests), opened last night, October 14. This immediately follows a limited summer engagement at the Comedy Theatre in London's West End from June 26-September 4, 2010 with opening night of July 7. Pop icon Deborah Cox headlined a star-studded cast featuring performances and presentations by Sandra Thurman, former AIDS Czar under President Bill Clinton and current President and CEO of International AIDS Trust, the cast of FELA!, Dancing With The Stars finalist and N'SYNC star Lance Bass, Tony Award winners Alice Ripley, Chuck Cooper, Melba Moore, and TV stars Graham Phillips (The Good Wife) and Ariana Grande (Nickelodeon's Victorious), for the third annual Broadway in South Africa (BSA) benefit concert last night, October 4. Nearly the entire show featured world-premiere songs, created for the evening, by such composers as Grammy Award winners Desmond Child and Julie Gold. This year's honoree was producer Michael Butler. He is one of the most successful theatrical producers, lauded for bringing HAIR to Broadway in 1968, and an active proponent of youth creating positive global social change.

Yesterday, June 15, actor Bryan Greenberg and Emmanuelle Chriqui hosted 'Pay It Fashion Forward' at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge in New York City. The event celebrates the philanthropic efforts of model, designers, and artists. This year five notable personalities were honored for their positive influences on their communities and the environment. This year's honorees were Lane Carlson, Helena Houdova, Carlos Campos, Summer Rayne Oaks, and Rose-Marie Swift. Lucky Strike's bowling lanes were transformed into catwalks for Forever 21 to showcase their 2010 collection. BroadwayWorld brings coverage of the event below.

The Chelsea Symphony announces its fifth concert series of 2009-10 on Sunday, March 28 at 3:00 PM (Spring Concert II) at St. Paul's Church. The program will feature Obie Award winner actor/singer Darius de Haas in composer Aaron Dai's new miniature opera Hamlet: A Pocket Opera. The libretto is by Pulitzer-nominated playwright Jon Marans. Also on the program is music from Verdi's La Forza del Destino, Weber's Der Freischütz, and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite. Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante will round out the program on Saturday, and Vanhal's Double Bass Concerto on Sunday.

The 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards were held last night, March 13, 2010 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City. The event was hosted by Tony Award winner Alan Cumming. Colman Domingo's 'A Boy and His Soul', produced by the Vineyard Theatre, won the Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway & Off-Broadway award, while 'She Likes Girls' by Chisa Hutchison took home the award in the Outstanding New York Theater: Off-Off-Broadway category. The Broadway musical HAIR received a Special Recognition Award for their support of LGBT equality.

Charles Busch Leads THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS with The Chelsea Symphony, 12/11

The Chelsea Symphony has announced its Fourth Annual Winter Concert on Friday, December 11 at 8 PM, at St. Paul's Church. The program will feature actor/playwright and drag legend Charles Busch in Aaron Dai's holiday favorite, the Night Before Christmas, following a tradition of celebrated guest narrators: Ana Gasteyer, David Hyde Pierce and Richard Kind. New York Times lauded flautist Jesse Schiffman will perform Mozart's First Flute Concerto and the program will be rounded out with the overture to the Marriage of Figaro and the Nutcracker Suite. The concert will be performed without intermission and will feature four conductors rotating from positions within the orchestra to the podium and back: Music Director Miguel Campos Neto, Ankush Kumar Bahl, Kyunghun Kim and Mark Seto.

Preview performances began Saturday, September 12th, for the critically acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production of William Shakespeare's HAMLET with Jude Law in the title role, directed by Michael Grandage. The production officially opened last night, October 6th, at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). HAMLET will play a strictly limited run of 12 weeks only.
