Walnut Street Theatre's 2016-2017 Independence Studio on 3 season continues with one of Neil Simon's funniest plays, Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Philadelphia audiences will be the first to see this production before it becomes the seventh national tour of a Walnut Street Theatre production.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) continues its 2016-17 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of TORN ASUNDER, written by Obie Award-winner Nikkole Salter and directed by Janeece Freeman Clark. This staged reading will be performed for one night only on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 7pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. Maplewood, NJ), where MDR is the resident theater company. The reading is $15 (advance purchase), $20 (if purchased at the door) and open to the public. Student/Senior discounts are also available. Jazz Times' Christopher Loudon wrote that her interpretation of the Richard Whiting/Johnny Mercer standard, 'Too Marvelous For Words', conveys 'a slithery sexiness worthy of Sarah Vaughan while weaving in some wickedly good scatting.' Jazzhistoryonline.com's Thomas Cunliffe has praised Perea's 'combination of confidence and maturity', predicting that she 'could become one of jazz's top vocalists in the near future.'

The readings will take place Sunday October 23rd at 1PM, Monday October 24th at 7PM, and Tuesday October 25th at 1PM at The Cell Theatre (338 W.23rd St.).
